Hey there people,

I've tried dmt maybe about ten times over the last twelve months and all have been positive experiences. However, the last two times i've launched, when coming down have been experiencing full body tremors. As i have come out of the last journeys i've been aware that my body is shaking, to the point where my chest and legs are coming off of the bed. The tremors aren't uncomfortable, painful in any way, i have just become increasingly disconcerting after thinking about the probable cause of it. Other than the tremors the voyages have been similar to the previous times.

I don't have any concerns with the product being contaminated in anyway, which some people in previous posts have attributed it too. Also the shaking is a lot more vigorous than me just shivering from the cold. My dosages however were stupidly eyeballed and probably amongst the highest doses i've taken, guestimating around 50-60mg but could be more or less.

Has anybody else experienced anything similar to this or have any ideas as to why it might be happening?Confused

I've had a similar experience with last ayahuasca session, but I did it with a fast, so had limited energy in my system... ended up taking a dose on the heavy end, and just was a little weak throughout the whole thing... these things do put a certain stress on your overall system, so maybe try bumping the dosage down to something that's more comfortably enjoyable. If you still continue to have tremors/shakes then it's something else that's reactive which you would have to troubleshoot from a different angle. Just be safe and try not to put yourself in any unnecessarily dangerous situations/positions/predicaments

Follow all safety guidelines, I think there's a sticky around here somewhere on health+safety of DMT use

""ayahuasca trueno or ayahuasca negra
~ thunder ayahuasca or black ayahuasca ~
This type of ayahuasca provokes especially strong purge and physical shaking which can be overwhelming. Ayahuasca trueno should be taken only by those experienced with the medicine.
""

from here: http://www.biopark.org/peru/huascaspecies.html

having done black caapi plus chacruna i can confirm the above as correct for me and no other vine has done this. it maybe a similar occurence??? possible. i did not find it overwhelming but still very pronounced; particularly my legs. as ive said before on here in chi kung they do stances specifically to initiate this shaking (chi hitting and clearing blocks was what Erle Montaigue said it was; sounds like a fair notion to me)as do they also with TRE (trauma release exercise). i have the TRE vid and it does work...check a youtube vids to see them all getting their legs to shake. its a great stress reducer. TRE> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPFbXdSGSkc

i think its a good thing in general but i might be wrong as regards yourself.

hi bC, so you felt it to be a negative experience? as you say "too much red." it felt ok to me but then i was expecting it as id read the copy/pasted partagraph above. still a surprise! i guess black maybe just have more propensity to illicit shaking of the body. possibly too much of a "good thing" could be detrimental? id feel that if its happening of its own accord, its maybe because the body is able and willing to do it, maybe! in the scope of the experience you should be able to discern whether it was pro +ive journey or not i think. i can certainly see how it could happen on any aya brew/dmt vape/changa etc, and ive had it more mildly on shrooms.

Erles explanation of violent shaking during chi kung, not good as opposed to vibrating or gentle shakes apparently:: http://www.taijiworld.com/qa/qa.html

"Adverse cyclic Qi".

depends on whether its violent shaking or not, from what i gather. if its even connected to this notion. does it feel nice? is the question i would ask myself, or at least not bad. can be beneficial i think.

Thanks for the responses all, i'll be sure to re-read the Safety section and give all the links a browse. I know this DMT was from Mimosa if that makes any difference. Other people have had the same stuff with no shaking but perhaps not at such high dosage. I'll try again with a little less a see what happens.

I was thinking nothing of it when it happened but then realised tremors are usually associated to negative situationsSad Hopefully it's all part of the experience though.

Thanks again, Peace

It depends really, for me I think part of the problem was that I was just too weak at the time to fully withstand the whole experience in a completely healthy and comfortable way.. That said, I wouldn't say it was negative on the whole, but the shaking did trip me out (no pun intended) at first because of the crazy warning labels I've read about MAO inhibition and cardiac effects when mixed with prescription medication (was on antibiotics for a minor finger infection/surgery at the time, but had specifically asked for the ones that have no MAOI interaction, so I just wasn't sure if the tremors were related at first, tho for what it's worth I didn't take any medication at all for the whole day following up to the aya session)

In any case, long story short, I just consciously accepted the experience, did end up purging and felt much better... but in the end I just feel like I drank too much caapi and the body was just too weak at the time to handle it. Not a negative overall experience, just a little overwhelming and having no prior precedence, was a bit uncertain when it started whether or not it was a bad thing. Ultimately gained some very beneficial insights from it, and after the purge the experience leveled out to a positive keel with a ton of wisdom.

Hence my suggestion to make sure and follow all safety precautions to avoid the negative tremors, and then if tremors happen anyway then it may just be part of the dance and nothing to worry about, or it could be from excessive dosing in OP's case Wut?

Every other experience that I've had which was reasonably dosed has been nothing short of healing, comfortable, and beneficial, so in my case I attribute the tremors to high dosage and low body energy in the moment; wasn't anything drastic, just light noticeable shaking and weak bodily function. Next time I'll make sure to get my energies up and eat full meals the days prior, cuz you certainly do need healthy amount of energy for these experiences

I usually get tremors any time I consume DMT or any other psychs. I think its just part of what happens when you take something that effects your serotonin levels as almost all psychs do. I only get mild ones whilst smoking DMT though, have yet to try Aya. Mushrooms however can give me terrible tremors, especially if I start to feel uncomfortable with the current situation.
Everything published by Gone-and-Back are the mad rantings and ravings of a mind who yearns to be free and thinks he knows what he is talking about. However, these are just delusions made to feel that freedom, because that freedom will never come. Any experiments done are purely figments of the imagination, and are falsified to the highest degree. Nothing should be taken seriously from a crazy mans mind.

I also get a little bit of the shakes on psychadelics. I find it comforting to move to the music even when laying down. Usually it is some shaking or tapping in my legs, rocking a little bit from side to side, or clenching and releasing my hands into fists. For me, it is voluntary and as I describe, comforting; a way to work out stress i might be experiencing as part of the journey. It stops as I come out of the trance.

Sometimes marijuana gives me an anxiety attack and when it does, that comes with some serious tremors for me that eventually pass as I calm down. For me, it is a sign to lay off the pot.

So in my experience, it is anxiety.

Maybe this isnt the same thing though as what you are experiencing. I have seen people have "ticks" on psychadelics, like snaping their fingers or shaking out their hands, which is just part of their process and it goes away after.

The only thing I would be concerned about would be seizures if you are shaking "violently". But please do not get scared from that comment and self-diagnose. I would keep my eye on it but go with it if it feels good/right at the time.

Whenever I feel overwhelmed by emotions, I get a little shaky. The mental and emotional overload I get from psychedelics (especially DMT) comes with uncontrollable shaking that subsides after I have fully come down.
