It has been said that the visions seen through ayahuasca are not hallucinations in the typical sense. Hallucinatinos would be defined as something that is not real. It is believed that many of the visuals seen are real and are the spirits of the plants. Imho, I am starting to believe that what we see under the influence of psychedelics is mererly what we are not able to see without the aid of these allies. Maybe I'm just crazy. It's hard to say though.

^^

You don't sound crazy.

If your experiences lead you to lean towards the belief in the actuality of your hallucinations, this is not out of character with what many other people have come to believe as well. No one else can say how relevant your trips are. If you are rational about it, and don't make fanciful leaps of logic, you should be able to find ways to test the information you receive, and thus validate your hypothesis somewhat.

My feeling is that there are both "true hallucinations" AND run of the mill fantasy. Learning to distinguish the two is the true art of the shaman.

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." ~ Buddha

I feel that is exactly what these plants have been teaching me. Now, I feel I must find someone to help guide me in the mastery of such things.

@ Ez: i think your right that the "hallucinations" are very real and also profound. however maybe some of what we are shown is just our minds trying to comprehend something that we cannot so to some it comes off as a delusion or hallucination while others its just beyond words... and you didn't sound crazy to me zeke! (its krazy kay btw...)

I don't claim that they are real or not. But the profound changes that I have made in my life due to the lessons I have learned while on psychedelics ARE real.

ITS Crazy.

What kind of changes? I'm curious to know.

Since slowly stepping back into the peychedlic world, I see myself being almost forcefully compelled to eat more natural food, exercise more, read more and possibly take up yoga. It is a hard set of things to swallow, after being pretty sedinatry for about 2 years, but it seems almost obligiyory.

We do have a Spell Check function...Thumbs up

Anyways, back to the topic:

Yes, I believe the things we witness while tripping have meaning but of course the meaning sometimes doesn't become apparent until later after a period of integration which is why it's a good idea to take breaks from tripping to reflect, meditate, and ground yourself. It also may be helpful to have a dream journal to find patterns and messages from our subconscious and/or spirit guides.
