Beloved psychonauts,
may peace be with you all...
I was thrilled to discover this Entheogenic University.
Moreover I enjoyed the serious attitude that attracts so many worthy forum members.
My name is Eumaios (meaning in Greek, the person that gives good births) first recorded by Homer in Odyssey.
I am a 69yo student, living in a small Greek Island, and I feel very young at heart, eager for knowledge and wisdom.
Of course, we know that this essential knowledge was always Forbidden by the system, as it is endangering the status of all authorities...
Never the less we carry on.
To proceed:
I was especially attracted by the multitude of technics and innovations presented by the forum.
So I thought that it may be fun to collect and compile all serious (or/and funny) amateur ideas for Siphoning-separating liquids.
To contribute my dime,
I describe below what I did at chemistry lesson back in 1965:
Method No1:
I used a wide neck jar containing the liquids for separation and I placed it inside a wide pyrex.
I placed a book under one side of the pyrex, so that the system was tilted.
Next step, I inserted vertically an empty wine bottle in the Jar and pushed it down very-very slow.
The solvent overflowed, wetted a minimal area of the jar, and was collected unspoiled in the pyrex.
As soon as the lower fluid reached the jar-top, I withdrew the wine bottle leaving almost no solvent behind.
No plastic material involved, no special and costly instruments required.
Method No2:
To improve matters and avoid cleaning the pyrex and jar I innovated further by overhead hanging the empty wine bottle from the ceiling. The bottle was tied to a strong string connected to a counter weight, two feet afar, in a way that provided equilibrium.
As counter weight I used a coffee pot filled with small pebbles. As the bottle was further immersed in the jar, it was gradually stopped by buoyancy. So I had to periodically take out pebbles from the coffee pot to stabilize again.
It worked marvels but i was constantly complaining to Darwin for not evolving me to a three handed creature, and avoid this mess.
Forgot to mention, that in order to suck the solvent from the bottleneck of the jar I used something you cant find anymore: a glass syringe. Shear perfection in grass tec. No more available in favor of one use plastics.
Method No2 Success 100% but the process was soon abandoned in favor of the previous and simpler tec.
I expect your ingenuity along with links mentioning previous applications.
Love you all,
Eymaios
