Well, I just wanted to drop in and say hi.

I have been lurking here for some time and am just about to attempt my first extraction so I thought it would be a good idea to register so I can share anything that I learn in the process.

A little about me, I have a background in organic chemistry and a long standing interest in psychedelics so a DIY approach befits me I think. I hope I can be a useful member of the community and help others to achieve what they are looking for.

STS is a community for people interested in growing, preserving and researching botanical species, particularly those with remarkable therapeutic and/or psychoactive properties.

Hello the-badger,

Welcome to the Nexus, Very happy.

I hope you will logon again soon to let us know what you decided to do and how your extraction went. And if you have decided to try your product or not.

There are a number of chemists, biochemists, physicists, computer scientists, biologists, engineers and other professionals - some employed, some still in school. I believe if you choose to become an active member, you will find yourself in good company.

I presume you know your way around and the rules, having been a long term lurker. I'm always happy when lurkers decided to join our ever-growing family, Very happy.

I'd love to learn more about you and about how your extraction went.

Again, welcome to the Nexus.
"But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. The present moment, ultimately, is more than enough, a gift of grace and unfathomable value, which our friend and lover death paints in stark relief."

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!
I am currently waiting for delivery of my NaOH, apparently asking somebody to pick some up for you is not as simple as it sounds and results in a bottle of "Double action liquid drain unblocker" because the guy in shop said it was much better than caustic soda, and safer too. Still, you live and learn. I will also be extracting some B. Caapi alkaloids to potentiate the DMT, should be promising.

Good luck and welcome!

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."
