Hi, as an introduction of myself, I’m writing you this post.

First of all, the reason is signed up for this forum was after viewing a ‘banned’ TED talk on YouTube by Graham Hancock, which described the phenomenology of DMT usage. You can find that video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0c5nIvJH7w.
The talk intrigued me; because Hancock linked the usage of DMT and the insights it gave him, to the issue of a lack of understanding of spirituality and the inner self in contemporary society. After reading some other information on the matter, I came across your forum and decided to register.

Secondly, I must admit I have never used DMT, nor have I used any other drugs besides cannabis, Ritalin, alcohol, aspirin and mild painkillers, hence the title of this post. What I find so interesting about DMT, to the extend that I’ve been able to read and understand the experiences of travellers, is that the philosophical implications which DMT has give you correspond to my personal insights and understanding of reality. Such as:

- Consciousness is a single integrated phenomenon underlying the physical fabric of the universe it conceives.

- Our own records of this universe are always limited, unique and individualized. In practice it seems as each individual has a private universe, which collides and integrates with others to form a coherent and shared experience.

- Language and speech form a barrier in understanding and educating deep spiritual insights. Many rituals have been dogmatized because of this.

- Time is a mechanical process.

- Spiritual entities come from within consciousness. I as a subject am an agent of a collective ‘machine’, a portion of consciousness in its totality. My experience of being contributes to a larger balance of creation and destruction of beings and experiences, which contribute to the legitimacy of existence. The link to the collective is however rather flexible.

- I am not insane, yet I feel disconnected from mainstream culture and psychological science.

You may correct me if you think I'm wrong or have formed a different opinion, since I find this stuff is interesting.

Thirdly, my life so far has been pretty much a smooth ride. I did face difficulties but have been able to fix them within a few years. Yet I feel I’m somewhat stuck in making the changes I want, especially regarding balance in my life. I feel unbalanced. This is totally bugging me, because I want to become enlightened and develop my personal consciousness to operate on a higher level. I believe my personal balance is a deadlock to which I do not own the key yet.

The reason I signed up for this forum is because I believe DMT can resolve my issues with balance. I feel connected to travellers although I don’t know you. If I were to take DMT I want to educate myself further, get to know some people who use it, and prepare for it thoroughly. I'm still undecided. Altering my vision is a life’s goal, yet I’m uncertain about my personal psychological fitness, since family members face depression, have ADHD and also some with epilepsie.

Hopefully you guys could help me out, by sharing your experiences, answering question I have, asking me questions you have and assessing if I'm ready to take the leap down the rabbit hole I've been reading about. For now I’ll just hang out on the forum, as I haven’t been able to get to all of the information on this site yet.

Bon voyage! ☺

Hello Spinotech,

Welcome to the Nexus. Thank you for taking the time to compose an Introduction Essay - I enjoyed reading that very much.

Your philosophy issues will likely get a lot of attention here - Nexians love to debate things.

As far as DMT providing you the balance you seek, . . . who knows? What I would encourage you to do though is to take your time. DMT isn't going anywhere - it's in plants all around us, and extraction techniques are getting more varried and sophisticated every month it seems.

I would encourage you to try some other things before DMT. For example, do you meditate much? I personally find meditation has provided me a lot of the balance I sought in life. . . .

Also, I would maybe recommend you hunt or home grow psychoactive mushrooms and try various dosages of those before doing DMT. It will give you a sense of the territory, especially if you ever try a high mushroom dose.

Finally, I would draw your attention to banisteriopsis caapi only ayahuansca. That is, no DMT or DMT plant - just the b. caapi vine in the brew. This is only for folks who are NOT taking medications with warnings about MAOI interactions.

Personally, I have found b. caapi brews to be very healing both mentally and physically.

Well, I would encourage you to read the entire content of those links in your welcome PM. I would also encourage you to take your time and take a good look around - there's a lot going on here beyond just entheogen consumption. Many different ways to participate, Very happy.

Again, welcome to the Nexus.
