I understand that DMT is illegal to possess in most places.
However, DMT containing plants are perfectly legal. So in effect, when you purchase mimosa for example, you are buying DMT. How is this legal?

Its like owning a box that is illegal to open. Wut?

You contain DMT. You are hence technically illegal as well.

Welcome to the Drug Laws logic.

^what he said.
but in a deeper note to the topic. the sense law makers found by making it illegal to extract dmt but not the plant is actually a thing that could be good and bad.
At least we know there's someone in congress that gets how crazy the idea of making nature illegal is, there's much more uses to mimosa or acacia than dmt and it's been like that for more than the country itself was founded on.
we're mad it's illegal to extract
but not quite grateful to the fact the plant was never criminalized.
It's all a matter of perspective.

DMT containing plants actually aren't legal (in the US anyway). Although they are sold the DEA could easily raid a supplier of chacruna, mimosa, or any other DMT source.

In the US it isn't legal. In many other countries it is either illegal as well or suppliers operate in a gray area.

Here is a thread relevent to the subject at hand.
