Hello Nexusers, i'm glad to join your community full of interesting information and friendly users from what i see. I'm not good with english language, sorry in advance for my lack of vocabulary.
So, Nexus Community, i come to you with a big question i have since a while. I never go to south america, where the biggest part of our loved dmt birth, so i don't know where it is harvested and my bigger doubt, if he is cultivated?
I smoked some changa, it was a beautiful experience, but i'm afraid to try it again because i see us (occidental) with bulimia.
Are we destroying a forest or biodiversity consuming these plants, like we did with peyote?
Maybe you can help me with my doubts. kiss

No, they are destroying global biodiversity via global industrial capitalism. Fear not, you are not responsible for the killing of the planet. If you can utilize these plants to catalyze resistance to dominant culture, it's worth it. The ecological impact is negligible compared to the actions of states and corporations. there are people that do not treat the trees with respect in any form, as if they are not one with the tree in the first place. I can just hope that everyone understands that the trees need respect and love.

"Braie" wrote:Are we destroying a forest or biodiversity consuming these plants, like we did with peyote? I think you have brought up a very important thing we should all be talking about. When are our wants/needs to explore our consciousness prioritised over sustainable practices and should they be? I was talking with someone who knows of native trees here in Australia which people harvest the bark from for DMT. These trees are far and few between and this someone told me that whenever he has come across one it has been ring-barked beyond recognition. He doubts the tree will make it back from such abuse. So I think we should definitely think deeper on this question. If you see a tree like this, would you still take more bark from it? Is your consciousness exploration more important than the tree? And granted, as Snozzle has touched on - those who do explore their consciousness often realise/build on a love for nature so that they may be more equipped after such experiences to live respectfully and sustainably. But for now, these consequences (such as the native trees I have talked about) are real and are the responsibility of the entheogenic community (as a culture). How can we address this? We are the local embodiment of a Cosmos grown to self-awareness. We have begun to contemplate our origins: starstuff pondering the stars; organized assemblages of ten billion billion billion atoms considering the evolution of atoms; tracing the long journey by which, here at least, consciousness arose. Our loyalties are to the species and the planet. We speak for Earth. Our obligation to survive is owed not just to ourselves but also to that Cosmos, ancient and vast, from which we spring. I think the proper use of these etheogens would be doing so to the extent that it's necessary to heal oneself; so, in other words, only do so when needed. Recreational use becomes a bit of a burden, in a way, because it's more desire-based, and since resources are limited, it's the responsibility of each and every one of us to give mutual respect to Mother Nature and help her in the struggle towards sustainable natural sources, so we can propagate the natural medications for the consciousness of future generations to come ![Smile](/forum/images/emoticons/smile.png) That's the only true approach that I can see Of course, where resources are ample, recreational use should be allowed. So I guess the trick then comes down to growing so much natural resource that it's more than enough for everybody's general purposes also, most importantly; http://vimeo.com/55073825

Thank you for your answers, this question made me think, and it's difficult for me to accept to do something bad for good reasons. Cultivating DMT rich plants is not impossible, i have to look that way. And i'm sure i'm not alone in this tought. Thank again for sharing your opinion on my doubts.
