I think it will be legal federally in the US probably in the 2032 election year. What about y'all?

It will probably happen at some point, but not for a very long time.

The states might change, and I'm pretty sure we'll see less and less funding go towards enforcing pot's legal status, but anyone who tries to take the law of the books on a Federal will probably get shouted down.

2020 at the latest.

The way things are rolling 2016 is looking very very probable. Thumbs up

Keep in mind not so much as five years ago, people were saying, "oh we'll never see legal weed in the USA at all." Change come like wildfire Wink

I may be wrong, but I think it will be federally legal by 2024.

I think it will be sooner than we think.

This is technically already happening. With the states legalizing it it's showing that we are ignoring what the government thinks and state regulation, which is our right, is taking a strong hold.

If I find it I'll post it here but there was already an announcement (I think from the dept of justice) that they wouldn't be going after people except for personal profit.

Federally legalized weed is a dream I have been waiting to come true since I was 14 years oldCool My guess is within the next ten years.

I suspect a lot of change in the next decade, with this new healthcare legislation going awry and no end in site of government spending, I predict we will see the end of a lot of federal government regulation. If the government wants to avert total collapse I suspect that a lot of government agencies will be scrapped in favor of return to more local regulation of things like drugs. I suspect some american cities will starting becoming a lot more relaxed on drug laws.

I am hoping that in this case cannabis really is the gateway drug. I have to believe a world that allows for the individual to explore there consciousness freely, is on the path to an enlightened society. Hopefully we can understand this together before its to late.

I think we're already past the point of no return. I'd say sometime in the 2016-2020 range. Hopefully sooner.

Unfortunately I'm not in a state that will legalize soon, so I'll have to wait it out or move to greener pastures.

I think y'all are right on the fact that MAJOR change has already occured and will snowball into a better tomorrow.

I think adam brings up a very good point. Govt is already trying to do wayyy too much that it doesn't need to be doing. I think its going to start cutting back a lot of its costly policies.

Thumbs up to anrchy's link.

I'm so happy to live in this day and age when such a dramatic shift in perception of drug use is happening (...is what I'll say when this actually happens).
Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.

Although I don`t live in the states, and live in Australia.
No wheels of motion have been made towards legalisation in my country, despite living in one of the best places for quality Mary J.
Legalisation can be both good and bad.
it could make growing your own plants illegal for personal use, placing all supply in the hands of corporations.

Last time I looked at the laws, growing your own Tobacco plant in Australia (one single plant) had penalties of up to $50,000 fine and up to 2 years in jail.

I imagine the same kind of BS could occur with Weed, leading to less diversity, and feeling forced to buy from growers (or i`ll term them, manufacturers...as that's how modern agriculture is these days :/).

I'm pretty sure the reason why that is the case for tobacco is because entrenched corporations lobbied for those penalties to protect their profits. I doubt this will be the case with cannabis since the states that have legalized (and those that have medical programs) have allowances for personal grow operations of limited scale. I expect the industry that develops to be more like the craft brew industry - where many smaller companies produce high-quality cannabis, rather than a system controlled by a few major players that peddle a lower-quality mass-produced product. After all - since cannabis isn't very addictive, there is no reason why someone would need to pay for a cheaper low-quality product to get their 'fix'. Not many people would smoke a pack of joints per day, I think.

With the extremely potent weed that is around today, I think it would be extremely hard to smoke that much weed a day. Back when I used to smoke nonstop every day I would smoke an ounce a month of very strong cannabis. Let's just say you put a gram of weed into a joint, that's 28 joints an ounce. A pack of cigarettes is 20 cigarettes. Lol. I would not be able to smoke a pack a day. I would be comatose.

Enough people back one cause, then it happens. You see this with any type of reform we have had. And the amount off people who support this are in way greater numbers than anything before. Twisted Evil

Well at least one reason for legalization is to take money away from dealers. Especially those of the larger scale. So any move that would cause people to have a reason to go back to buying illegally would be counter productive, and they know this.

Things are actually moving along quite fast. It wasn't too long ago that medical Marijuana first appeared and even then people said there's no way it will become legal for personal use in our lifetime.

I was more optimistic and bam. A big told ya so to all the non believers! Bwahahaha

I actually do think the movement has moved incredibly quickly. What do we have now 20+ medi states? That's about half.

AND many states reviewing their own personal use legalization, plus two states and... 3? cities with personal use legalization. I think patience should still be applied here. I'm already excited for the future legalization of certain psychedelics for clinical use. Which IS happening.

MAPS has been greenlighted through both the pentagon and the military for using MDMA for PTSD. There is a lot of excitement around just how effective this medication is for helping alleviate the suffering of the droves of veterans returning with PTSD.

It's happening folks, it's really happening. Thumbs upBig grinCool
