Hi everyone! I've decided to finally register, but have been perusing DMT-Nexus for about a year, now. The ideas shared here, and the supportive members, made this an ideal place for me to visit for advice/guidance/inspiration in regards to some of my interests: psychedelics, consciousness exploration and sustainable living.

So, I'm 23 and am from Melbourne, Australia. I had a few consciousness journeys through substances almost 3 years ago, but have not indulged since then (although I am an evening vaporizer of mj). I've tried LSD, DXM, nitrous and a teenie weenie bit of mushrooms. I had all of these within one year alone, and found my latter journeys were telling me to (as Alan Watts puts it) "hang up the phone".

My initial psychedelic journeys did lead me into a new perspective of reality. I saw our entire society as a construct; and because of this I knew that we could indeed reconstruct our society to be more compassionate, ecological and mindful. Since then I have returned to University with a focus on environmental philosophy and biology, and I have also developed new hobbies/interests in permaculture, aquaponics and sustainable living.

Lately, I have been feeling a call for more spiritual development. I have indulged my intellectual self over these past 3 years in line with what I learnt from exploring my consciousness - but now I feel I need to revisit my consciousness and learn more to appropriate into the physical world. I am very aware that humanity has some work to do in rewriting our collective narrative and rediscovering our place in the cosmos - or our 'cosmic self'.

I am very curious about trying DMT, but as I learnt with previous drug experiences, I prefer not to seek it out - but rather know it will come to me when I am ready.

I have tried isolation tanks and have felt the beginnings of some great journeys to be had; but some tough financial times has meant I have been unable to continue. I am interested in other forms of meditation, although have been somewhat skeptical about trying plain ol' transcendental (I find sitting and closing my eyes to make me very edgy, despite prolonged trial). I would love for you to change my mind though Smile

I suffer from mild anxiety, but am getting better at living with it (practice makes perfect). I also have issues with 'listening to myself', I find my brain sounds like an orchestra of different perspectives, so it's hard to know which to listen to.

At any rate, I guess that's all about me! Any questions, ideas, advice in relation to what I've written is much appreciated.

Looking forward to becoming a more active member of this community! Very happy

Hello 0neir0naut,

Welcome to the Nexus. That was a great introduction - I really enjoyed reading it, Very happy. Also, great to have a long term lurker sign up for membership, Smile.

I don't have any answers for you, other than to praise you for taking your time with DMT.

Personally, I have found simple breathing focus meditation practice to be very helpful in evening out my mind.

I do encourage you to become an active member. As a New Member you may post anywhere in the Welcome and Plant Research Areas. You may also join us in the chat room if you choose to do so.

Again, welcome to formal Nexus membership.

Thanks for the welcome, Pandora! I've been reading up on a few meditation related threads on Nexus and am getting a few ideas. I've saved up a little dough to afford a 3 hour floatation tank session, which I am really happy about! I'm looking forward to contributing instead of just lurking Thumbs up

Hello! I too recently decided to make an account after a while of "lurking". Meditation helps with anxiety (I know), you get used to it with time. In the end, it is very rewarding! You don't even need drugs to achieve a spiritual state if you practice enough (note: I am not anti halucigonetics, no judgements on my part). Personally, I know the reason why I had trouble finding meditation pleasing at first was because I was too attached to instant gratification (something that affects most people in developed countries imo). I.e with meditation you have to work for your effect. Don't give up and you won't regret it Pleased you strike me has the meditation type lol

Edit: running helps with anxiety, if you live in the south eastern part o australia you got really nice spots and even carnivorous plants lying around :0! Lots of different varieties!

Take care

I have recently been accepting this in my life. I have been a nightly user of mj, as I mentioned in my OP, but I have since started TM mornings and evenings and found that that dissolution of anxiety and letting go of thoughts that I craved through being high is something I can attain by simply unveiling the illusions of the ego through commitment to meditation and every day presence. Haha, I guess you pinned me right as the meditative type Pleased

Running! I have a big problem with that. I have a very low pain threshold and horrible (HORRIBLE) running form. I land flat on my heels and jolt my knees and I've recovered from several knee injuries in the past, so it now makes running almost excruciating. I am a cyclist though, and have been considering commuting everywhere by bike instead of the 10 minute ride to and from the train station. I like exercise that I don't think of as exercise... so getting from A to B on a bike would be ideal. I also get the chance to say hi to strangers and feel the breeze or look at the birdies when I cycle. So that's always a plus!

Thanks for the advice Very happy

And it's healthier.. If I may say, I used to smoke weed and it made me anxious after a while (so many pesticides and other nasty stuff in it now a days), but you can get past most off the nasty stuff with a vaporiser. Worth the money IMO.

Don't get too absorbed by the beautiful birdies! That's like texting while driving !

Hope you get from your A to your B in your spiritual quest and I look forward to hearing from your DMT experience (if you ever have one and wish to talk about it)

Take care of that knee

I have no doubt that it's healthier. I had convinced myself for a long time that marijuana was 100% 'harmless'. But I think that's slightly ignorant. Everything in moderation, right? And as you mentioned, the stuff you get on the black market is grown for high THC levels (and the pesticides or other chemical sprays is definitely something I've thought about). I am taking a break from my nightly habit whilst I commit to TM. SWIM has thought about growing her own plant one day, though. She likes the idea of her use of the plant being dictated by the health and seasonal givings of the plant Smile

Haha, don't worry - I tend to pull over my bike if I want to have a real good look at the birdies! Big grin I'd really love to try DMT soon. I feel very drawn to it lately. Soon I think! It'll turn up at some point. When it does I will tell Nexus all about it for sure Smile

Everything in moderation Pleased

Growing a plant is always better than buying from a dealer...except for the law part Razz but one plant won't alert anybody..
