The moment has finally come. After years of research and reading about it I have decided to partake in an ayahuasca ceremony this weekend.
I have been preparing for it, watching my diet, meditating and reading about it.

I know that nothing of these things will actually prepare me for the real experience, but I still wanted to ask if you guys have any last minute tips? Is it in any way comparable to an intense mushroom trip?

I must say that I am getting more nervous now that the day is approaching.

congratulations! I envy you. I'm sorry I do not have any input that someone experienced with aya would. I can say from all the reading I have done that it isn't really comparable to anything, much like how DMT alone isn't either.

Here's a link to a rogan podcast with Aubrey Marcus. He talks about his experience in peru taking ayahuasca. Its pretty intense so I'm not sure if thats what your looking for. Dont want to add any anxiety But it's an amazing story none the less. This guy changed his name after his experience. Aubrey is a very awesome and genuine guy.

There are some similarities to an intense shroom trip. For example the patterns and forms of the visual distortions can be very similar.But the DMT in the brew pushes it further into more colorful and faster visual madness.

I saw an busload of similar entities parading through an heavy Aya ceremony.

I would say a strong mushroom trip is comparable to the basic (starting) level of Ayahuasca. It comes in waves like all(?) tryptamines, you might even get nearly sober in between waves.
If you have some experience with mighty shroom trips you will feel at home or rather SHE will feel at home inside you.

Thanks for the replies guys. Stepping into the unknown is always something strange and honestly I am looking forward to it as well. Even if the fear accompanies me with it, but I have this every time I embark on a psychedelic journey.

Anrchy, I have not seen that Joe Rogan show yet, but I have seen the one with Graham Hancock and he describes the ayahuasca journeys as hard work, so that is also what I'll be expecting. What I don't understand is why you envy me? Are you not in a position to do it?

I guess it can be, but it's probably dependent on many factors and dose is one. I have no idea how much vine you'll be drinking. I can only say that a low dose vine (30-50g) has not been difficult to me but comforting and visionary. I also know what art is now
Rarely have i seen such exquisite objects and scenes. The visuality kind of surprised me but then, the body also plays a huge role. It had always a serious undertone, while mushrooms were mostly like ...a glimmer in the eye, jest "woooahahahahahahahah" *warp* factor...while ayahuasca had this grounding force which demanded every attention.

I'd expect a fair amount of nausea and a pretty un comfortable experience drinking it.

yes, yes i am in a position to partake in an Ayahuasca journey. But boy am I scared shitless. I am def not mentally prepared enough to even agree to drink the sacred water. One day I will, this I know. But today is not the day.

I have no idea what de dose will be, I think I'll just go with whatever the experience has to offer (as if I have another choice ). I know from other people that mostly there is the possibility to have a second round, but I guess I will see how it goes and how I feel when the moment is there. The good thing is that I know I am in good hands. I won't know any of the other participants and this adds to the challange. I'll probably get to know them afterwards.


Ok, thanks a lot. I can't seem to get over how much the Nexus has given me sometimes. Even my girlfriend says this is a nice community with caring people. I must say that I have waited for a long time too before taking this step, but a lot of factors in my life have led me to this point and I feel I am ready for it. The fear is part of it and I think it is also part of my humbleness and respect towards it. The fact you think you are not ready, means exactly that and like you say your time will come too.

You can always take a low dose to get comfortable with it. I don't know why people seem to think Ayahuasca has to be extremely intense experience to be effective. I find low dosage just as beautiful.

Mostly because when I decide to dose aya I'm looking for the full experience. Low dose aya, I'm not as scared of but also not so interested in as a traditional melt your face off change your life dose of aya.
