Hi everyone - I was browsing the 'how does your changa look like' thread and noticed that most peoples' changa is green (ie. retains the colour of the herbs). Mine looks the same when using plain caapi leaf, but when I infuse caapi extract onto a herbal mix it all goes brown (retains the herbal aromas, but the harmalas stain it all brown). Is this normal? I've done both caapi leaf and vine extractions (peruvian yellow) and everytime the reduced liquid comes out brown (for leaf) and deep red (for vine). It seems to work fine, but I can't help but feel I might be missing out on something.

My 10x and 20x caapi always comes out brown. Vine infused on to leaf.

The only time I have green changa is if I use a green herbal mixture and add extracted harmalas.

It may also be the solvent used (or lack thereof) to make the changa.

OK thanks people. Sounds like its quite normal. It just doesn't look quite as appealing as other changa results.

I use unflavoured vodka for the caapi extractions, but have also tried the water boil method - both end up with brown/red extract; and then acetone for infusing spice. Can't imagine how the solvents could be responsible.
