This painting is very dmt like and he even mentions the harlequin that many see metamorphosising at the 'door' to hyperspace..

" The diamond-patterned wallpaper recalls the costume of the Harlequin, the comic character..."
A great painting whatever the influence.

It's all art and valuable in that light..but I dunno that does not do much for me and I feel like any kid can paint something like that..I would take a good Dali any day. I don't see any kind of DMT resemblance there. He might have taken oral cannabis though..

Now Dali..he defintaly had cannabis, mescaline, and later in life LSD.

Well, there you go. The DMT-Nexus peanut gallery, in its infinite collective wisdom, exposes Pablo Picasso for the talentless flash in the pan that he really was.

Wut?

Do you have any source for that? He always said he did not do psychedelics, and reports from his friends agree. Dalí had a few episodes abusing alcohol when he was young, and as he aged he was known to abuse some prescription drugs (sedatives, antidepressants and stimulants, besides stuffing himself with vitamin pills following his hypochondria) but he repeatedly said he didn't "do drugs".

(Edit: +1 for Art)

I read that Dali would fall asleep in his chair with a coin in his hand, when he fell asleep he would drop the coin by reflex or however you would call it, and wake up from the crash it made.. apparently this is how he got some of his best visions

I dont have a source

Dali once said "everyone should eat hashish, but only once"

I never said he took a lot of drugs, or even tripped many times or even made any kind of habit of it at all..but he did try mescaline at least once, as well as hashish(oral I assume)..and I have read that later in life he did try LSD once.

This quote is from an interview (spanish in the original) Dalí gave when he was almost seventy.

Quote:
Do you feel close to North American hippies?
On the contrary. It's San Francisco hippies and elsewhere who feel close to me. As Eluard said, a poet is not who is inspired, but who is able to inspire others. Timothy Leary, LSD priest, said that Dalí was the first LSD painter without LSD. I never took any drugs. But in spite of that fact, hippies recognize in me some of their own concern and horror for the bourgeois culture.

Of course there's always the chance Dalí was pulling our leg, but I take more seriously what he himself said than unknown references. Not that he had any problems admitting improper behaviour.

I'm surprised no one has dropped the most famous quote yet.

Salvador Dalí wrote:

He definitely tried hashish based on the quote Jamie posted above. I didn't know he had tried mesc and LSD, but it makes sense; I'm pretty sure most of the great artists and thinkers of the mid 20th century got dosed at some point or other.

What I said was he took LSD LATER in life..that's what I had read. I don't know when he died but he could have taken it after that interview.

The key thing makes a lot of sense and is very interesting. I remember first hearing about that a few years ago. Jung (and countless others) seems to have gotten a lot of his ideas and inspiration from somewhat similar states

When relaxing with eyes closed i often drift into bizarre hypnagogic states, that sometimes seem like dali could have been the architect of. But, alas, i utterly suck at downloading it all through my hands and into the world via utensils Razz

Yup. He was only the most important and influential artist of the 20th century. No biggie.
