I wanted to make a thread on a little discussed (other than the dangers and trip disasters associated with their alkaloids) species.
What I mean by that is there is not many personal accounts and experiences with this powerful species. Brugsmansia accounts are even fewer discussed than Cebil/Vilca is (the only really good account I remember reading on cebil were Jamies).

I have two Brugsmansias and have smoked their leaves and I ate one of their flowers ages ago (atleast half a year ago) and now that they are flowering I am going to dry their flowers and save them for getting to know the plant via smoking and tea. And soon enough with Hamaralas, then in a real brew.

Does anyone have any personal accounts or stories to share with Brugsmansia? Has anyone had any experience with experiencing the plant spirit? I am sure a lot of people here would know what I mean by experiencing the presence of the plant spirit, especially with Mimosa H. which seems to be easy to connect with.

And also what can be said about adding it to a brew?

I might be wrong but I'm under the impression they would throw one single flower in a brew for multiple people (not sure how many)

As you said, plant spirit is required, essence not DOSE lol

I once got a splatter of the tea in my right eye and it dilated majorly for around 10 hours while the other remained normal... That posed a lot of questions to be asked back in high school haha.

OH and brugmansia and / or datura changa rocks my socks off

My fave is third of each: brugmansia leaves and flowers, mint, and passiflora, 4:4:1 (herb:spice:harmalas)

Haha wow that's insane about the eye dilatation. I watched a yt video that a girl put up after a full blown Toe trip (with a shaman in the amazon) and even like 2 days after the experience her eyes were still extremely dialated.

And I read that too, I read an actual recipe on one of these websites, and it stated something like "ONLY 1 to 2 FLOWERS PER BREW" and the brew was for like 10 people.

I could agree with the essence and not necessarily the dose part. Although feeling the effects distinctly would probably help most people connect to that level of awareness (which would most likely help connection with the spirit).

The idea of Brugsmansia changa is one that I have often thought about, you have sparked my intrigue again Smile

I really enjoy brugmansia leaves and flowers smoked, esp along with DMT as it makes the dmt vapor smoother than smooth. The bronchodilating effect of tropanes is quite well established (few decades back there used to be datura cigarettes for asthmatics). Smoking brug is definitely worth trying - eating/tea is another, far more dangerous practise requiring some forethought.

Before you continue the thread, please read this one:
Discouraged drug talk: RCs, Datura, Kratom, Ketamine, Opiates, strychnine

And this one:
[NEW] Policy regarding discussion of different drugs

So please also post a bit more information about the possible dangers of Brugmansia.

I hope you understand.

I was just reading earlier about the asthmatic cigarettes. I also read that Datura has been used for asthma in india (in Ayuverdic medicine) for who knows how long.

Smoking them certainly is smooth. Me and a friend smoked the leaf of one plant with cannabis and he said it was like a small dose of speed.

I ate one of the flowers of the orange Brugsmansia plant (Aztec gold was its name) and about an hour later I felt like I was on some kind of stimulant, and the effect was not mild, but not intense, but more than "Just there". It was interesting to say the least.

I think if I had of eaten 2 whole flowers I would have felt a bit sick though for some reason, although I didn't feel sick at all eating one. Although if I ate two I think I would have started slipping into the deliriant/hallucinogenic effects.

Yeah that does make a lot of sense. I probably should have read that before.

Well with regards to Brugsmansia specifically, I think this thread should hold some value on the nexus as it has been used by many tribes and is a sacred plant to the ayahuasca tradition. I am sure there are many seekers who are looking for good personal accounts to find about Brugsmansia and its effects on brews and even some to the extent of its spiritual connection inside the space of their journeys.

I think this is DMT related, which is why I have posted here. And I am sure there are people here who have experience that would be of value to share.

As for the dangers though, most people know they are very dangerous if not used respectfully. Although I will say something just to point it out for those who would need it.

-------------------------SAFTEY WITH TROPANE ALKALOIDS-------------------
If you are working with any Tropane containing plants (Brugsmansias,Nightshades,Datura)

Please know that they are dangerous if you don't already know. An overdose is easy to do! Datura seeds are not always the same potency, and not every flower of Brugsmansia is the same potency. Therefore taking a normal dose of an unknown species with an unknown potency is very dangerous. Half a pod of Datura seeds of one strain can be as potent as a whole pod of another. And taking a whole pod of Datura seeds of any strain is STUPIDLY DANGEROUS.

If you are going to be experimenting with Tropane bearing plants of any kind, start with a very low dose and work your way up to wear you are comfortable. Overdosing tropanes (even a little bit) can be very uncomfortable and in some cases very dangerous.

Please do some research if you haven't already on the dangers, erowid has many disaster trips you can read.

If this thread takes off someone will probably post about a bad experience they have had with these alkaloids.

also I have to say that even if you manage to do a safe dose for ya, thats not the end of danger. The trip itself is where you can do incredibly stupid stuff and not even remember it. You walk around without "awareness" and do things but you will only know about it if someone stays sober and tells you about it.
This plant is nothing you play with in my opinion. Serious danger on every level when doing it. Stop

Was not aware of the brugmansia having bronchodilating effects, I'm an asthmatic and one time had no inhaler so I walked to a local datura shrub I knew of and picked a flower.

About 1/4 of that entire chopped up flower was smoked with some tobacco in a cigarette (altho a little bit moist still as I was suffering ha) and it did help me.

Altho at around the 2 hour mark afterwards my asthma came back, perhaps (slightly) worse than before.

I would also just like to add that any amount of alcohol mixed with these alkaloids is a massive DON'T.

When I was 16 I ate 44 datura seeds, and then 2 hours later decided to drink 2 shots of stroh rum (160 proof) because I wasn't 'feeling anything'

I suffered the whole night long with severe dehydration, my throat was literally scraping against itself no matter how much water I drank.

Apart from myself going to the tap all night long, the only effect I got was of hearing my step bro walk to the fridge, open it, and close it again in the darkness. But he said that he never left his bed

The seeds were also eaten in sets of 4, in intervals of 10 minutes.

I'm over the intrigue now really, but I love it in a blend and I love to have 4 / 5 seeds to reduce nausea as I no longer smoke cannabis

As an asnwer to what I made bold in your quote...

All of the experience reports(Erowid) from either Datura, Brugmansia or Belladonna(Or any tropane alkaoid-bearing plant) only seem to CONFIRM the dangers and disasters associated with Tropane alkaloids.

My own experience with brugmansia only further confirmed these warnings.
I was once curious, but in a wreckless way. The kind of curiosity that killed the cat.
I drank a Tea made from Brugmansia flowers with my blackmetal friend after he dared me.

It was not pleasant nor inspiring or enlightening in any way. The best I can describe the effects are utter dispair, helplessness and a constant sense of impending doom.
My, otherwise tough and strong blackmetal friend regressed into a frightened 6 year old
boy who was affraid of the dark. This was the only thing about the entire experience that amused me. But other than that it was just gnarly. It showed me a darkness, an evil so great that it crushed alot of my hopes and left me disenchanted, hopeless and fearfull.
Almost the anti-thesis of what Psychedelics usually do to me.

Not that night, but the night succeeding that 1 I had a horrible dream where Brugmansia appeared to me as an old lady. I've told this dream to Nexians 2ce before, but to sum it up,
her message was: You will fear and avoid me from now on.

And I sure do.

I'm familiar with the attraction towards Datura/Brugmansia/Belladonna, but you should know
this is a fatal attraction. Whatever experience it may yield, I cannot imagine it being worth dying for or going through the rest of your life heavily schizophrenic.
This is what lead me to dismiss this attraction.

Ive always got the sense of an old lady (maybe a bit frail and wicked) when I sense the spirit looking at brugsmansia plants (some more than others, as some are truly beautiful).
I wonder if this is how the spirit really is? If there is such definition to these plant spirits.

I think the old lady thing is just how our brains interpret the way some brugsmansias look though. The geometry involved with its branching and stuff.

A bit off-topic: fresh brugmansia flowers also have a citrusy-kind of smell that is neither pleasant or unpleasant - there is most certainly something wicked in their aroma.

In my opinion brugmansia flowers have more of a devil's spirit in them. I get the frail-but-wicked old lady thing you describe with Atropa belladona plants however.

Yeah I know what you mean, I never got why people say they have a beautiful smell, most of the time I find the smell a bit repulsive actually. Of the two tress I have growing, the one with white flowers actually has a really nice smell, which surprised me. The only thing is that the smell is gone after the first day of flowering Sad

Someone on this forum must have worked with these plants, if not many. Does no one really have much to share?

I have seeds in pots waiting for them to sprout been some time, anyone know how long they take before sprouting.

A quick question maybe anyone can help: does the seeds have any medical value? Datura seeds I know are used for nausea ect, do they contain the same alkaloids?
