Hi there, new poster (but long time surfer) at the nexus.

My questions concern enhancing a changa blend with freebase harmala alkaloids. I will be making a 1:1 blend of NNDMT and Pau D'Arco and ordered this to add into it:

Supposing I use 2 grams NN and 2 grams herb, does 500mg of the harmine sound like a good place to start? I have not yet experienced smoking harmalas so I would like to keep it on the lower end, but I certainly want its effect to be noticeable.

Also, with regard to making the blend, is it possible to dissolve the NN and harmine in the same solvent and pour that onto the herb to evaporate, or must I do these things separately? What solvent should I use? I have heard that 190 proof Everclear works well for dissolving harmalas, and that water may be an even better choice. I would like a product as pure as possible and don't mind waiting for it.

If you have never tried changa then it is a good idea to make multiple blends and decide which you like the best. I would start of with making batches off about 250mg of DMT and vary the amount of harmalas you add. I would start low so you don't over shoot the mark.

Everclear should be fine.

That harmine is pretty expensive, I'd do my own extraction in future as rue is cheap as chips and its fun to do.

Thanks for the helpful response. I tried searching but couldn't get a clear answer, at least concerning the best solvent to dissolve the harmaline. I think I will use the 190 proof everclear...but I am still concerned that this might be a suboptimal means of dissolving the NN along with it. Should I use IPA to make the changa first, and then dissolve the harmalas into the infused herb as a second stage? I don't mind waiting but of course if I can do both at once, the sooner I will be able to indulge

Definitely not suboptimal at all using everclear. IMO, everclear is a great solvent to use for DMT and especially harmalas, as harmalas dissolve very nicely into everclear versus 91% and up isopropyl.

Also, making a hot water bath and heating your everclear up helps the dissolution of everything.

Make your changa in a 1:1 ratio. Like my favorite blend is 1g of freebase DMT to 1g herb/herb mix to 250mg harmalas. Not entirely harmala heavy, but enough to definitely make a huge impact.
