I just read a post where Benzyme said that Phosphoric Acid wasn't the best for extractions because it leaves a mess of salts that aren't alkaloids in solution. Could this leave anything that reXing wouldn't remove?

please allow me to elaborate..at any given pH, you will have three or four phosphate ions, which will bind any charged molecules in the aqueous solution.
once you basify, the salts will remain in the aqueous solution, and you can pull DMT and re-x. what I was alluding to is salting a dirty extract, like a plant source with a wide alkaloidal profile, or doing A/B/A.

it's just much simpler, and efficient, to work with monoprotic acids.

Ohk. I just wanted to make sure my acid of choice didn't have any drawbacks. Obviously I'd prefer fo work with hydrochloric acid but its watched status turns me off. While I have your attention does Xylene need to go through a hot water bath before pulling from a bassified solution. My guess from what I've read would be no but.....

1. there are more monoprotic acids than hcl, which are not watched, you could even use vinegar if you wanted (i hear even apple cider works, though its probably best to stick with distilled white)
2. no need for a heat bath with aromatics (afaik) so.. no.
