I think felnik is pretty spot on here. I'm not all that great at navigating myself yet, and the tables can always turn, but its no surprise really that its possible considering this is what shamans the world over have actually been known to do for thousands of years. Navigating these states are basically what defines them. I think we all have those potential abilities, so there is no reason to my mind why we couldn't learn navigate and guide the experience, to a certain extent.

I've found this to be more true with DMT than with other psychedelics.

I believe this is because DMT leaves no doubt and is, in a way, a very pure line to non-coagulated life. Mushrooms for instance are, at least in low to mid doses good mediators and so is ayahuasca and cacti...between you and your environment, the earth, the social. But a decent dose of DMT is just a pure onslaught of otherness which leaves no doubt that it must be true and good because nothing can be more natural.

After reading this, im not sure if i stand behind it 100% ...but it gives a general idea on why i think that DMT does what it does.

I know what you're trying to say, and I'm on board Thumbs up (I think)

I had a difficult trip this week when i combined 2gr of fresh undried Golden Teachers with 4-6gr Rue.
Silly me thought it would be an easy to manage level 1 trip. Of course it wasn't. Felt more like lvl 3.
Had to put my body in a stable side position and whistle, sing and chant to myself to keep the trip from getting ugly. Intense brainshocks every minute. All the supressed stuff came to the surface.
So i whistled, sang and chanted.
All the shit they hurled at me turned to golden fairy dust and incredible beautiful pattern like Ayahuasca visions (minus the snakes).
When i stopped i saw rotten flesh, death and insanity.

So i kept going, used my voice, asked the right questions, and "they" seemed to approve.
Even when the trip calmed down and was basicly over, when i whistled again my earworm melodies, the golden pattern came back. It was glorious. I really think i learned something important here.

But its so tricky and paradoxical. You can't fight the trip, but you can defend yourself from negative things. You are not in control even if you think you are, but sometimes you have to take control, to get through the dark stuff.

I understand what you guys are saying about the space becoming navigable and certain motifs repeating themselves. But for the sake of this thread, I was trying to express that DMT can and will surprise you from time to time. Things can get ugly, and you have to accept that it can go that way.

With time, of course you become better at understanding it and being able to avoid extreme 'bad trips'. But I think many people stumble at least a few times in the beginning. I sure did. With every psychedelic, not just DMT Big grin

I think this is what I was trying to get across. Sometimes these things just happen, and it's all you can do to just hold on and keep your head. You don't have to let it overwhelm you, you can defend yourself, but sometimes there are just some difficult lessons that we're meant to learn.

Yeah man I hear you . I stumbled quite a bit too.
I agree that it can easily go wrong and not always
Predictable that's for sure . It's part of the deal yes

Yeah I understand now that what seems like a bad trip to others might not be a bad trip.

I discussed my trip with 2 friends that have never done any psych's and the look on their faces I could see where like "who would ever want to do that" type of look. Seeing masked figures, tribal people, etc def got them freaked out while to me it was such an intense and amazing experience. I thought that if I told them about all my great experiences that they would be wanting to try some, and boy , that wasn't the case at all.

Yeap, you guys were right.

Even with all the reading about (what I thought was bad) breaktrhough's, it didn't affect mine at all yesterday. Although I did find it weird that it was the same exact thing as my last breakthrough.
