Is the "Light" type the best one?
Are there uses for the "Heavy" type also?

Light is the one to use (uses are lighter fluid, zippos etc)
Heavy is not good at all...doesn't evaporate well (uses are 'white spirits'...paint thinner/brush cleaner)

but if one is freeze precipitating with the intent to recycle all the solvent - is there a downside to heavy?

Tried it...didn't turn out well at all. It did precipitate some but was drastically inferior.

That is good info to know, thanks.

Thank you for the great source of information that the Nexus is. I believe (hope) that I'm posting this in the right place.

I'm windowshopping for a solvent to apply the spice on Caapi leaves. In my country I'm offered the following options, which one would you suggest?

- Ethanol 98% / denaturated with Bitrex
- Aceton 99.5%
- Aceton (chemically pure)
- BioFair bio-ethanol 100% (denaturated)
- Isopropanol 99.9%
- Isopropanol 98%

Because the topic about Changa states that you should get 100% pure, I believe I'd go with the 3rd or 4th option. However, I wonder, does the 'denaturation' influence the possible use of it on Changa? Since, from what I understood, denaturation means adding a harmless but bitter additive, I wonder if this might influence the taste of the final mix. If the additive doesn't evaporate.

I understand that the information I give here is limited. Is there more info required to make a judgement or is this sufficient for now?

Thanks very much in advance.

i would go with the iso, either purity (Doesn't really matter).

but i think you can go with any of those that are not denatured.

Thank you, I will indeed go with the Iso. Can't wait to start smoalking Smile. I've smoked a lot of DMT, but never was able to breakthrough. From what I read here I assume that might change soon.

Previously I was unable to find any local suppliers of D-limo so I eventually just gave up.

But after a few extractions using naphtha as the NP solvent, thought it might be nice to try a full spectrum product and increase the yield in the process.

So after a quick search I found a supplier in the country. Prices seem reasonable.

I took a look at the msds and it says 100% CITRUS TERPENES - CAS: 94266−47−4
From what I can tell (a google search) this = d-limonene

I have attached the MSDS.

Could someone please take a look and let me know if it is in fact d-limo as I suspect.

Much gratitude.

Thanks PC.

Just waiting for a shipping quote from them.

In the meantime though I recieved another MSDS from a different supplier, which is closer to home (so shipping costs would be less). This MSDS, however, appears less professional (is just typed in Word) and is missing a lot of info (including the CAS). I have attached it for your viewing pleasure.

Please take a gander and let me know what you think.

Cheers
T

That is the part that confused me..

100% citrus terpenes sounds ok but any idea what "80 28-48-6" is all about?

haha tried that. None of my friends have a clue what it is and I don't have any time whatsoever to go to a store. can't really find anything online either. I might have to just go with zippo lighter fluid.

I found pure heavy naphtha in the supermarket sold as coal lighter. its clear and kinda smells like stove gas.

doing an evap test now, how does heavy naphtha compare to light for extraction?

Got it, thats a bummer. I guess Zippo lighter fluid it is.
If heavy naphtha is bad why does everyone say to use VM+P paint thinner? according to those posts its heavy.

well yeah I can confirm it doesn't evaporate. I put a few drops in a shot glass and set in in the window will 2 nights ago and it still has no visible difference in amount.

I've looked in a few of my local hardware stores for a non-polar solvent. I've noticed a variety of solvents state they contain 100% hydrocarbons. So my question is, does it matter what the name of the solvent is when its the hydrocarbons we're after?

Eg. Shellite and Paraffin oil
