Hi all,

Just recently had 5 acacia acuminatas sprout and show off their pretty green/purple leaves. Thing is, my backyard is tiny and may only have room for one tree.

So my question is, what would you guys do if you had no room to grow these trees on your own property? I was considering taking them out into the mountain region and planting them somewhere secluded but it'll be a hassle checking up on them considering it's around an hour drive (But I think it's my only viable option).

Again, your opinions and advice are welcome.
Thanks,

OneEye

If you live in an area where these plants can flourish on their own, that doesnt seem like a bad idea to me. I would just make sure that they are in an area that is not easily accesible to the every day traveler or hiker.

Everything published by Gone-and-Back are the mad rantings and ravings of a mind who yearns to be free and thinks he knows what he is talking about. However, these are just delusions made to feel that freedom, because that freedom will never come. Any experiments done are purely figments of the imagination, and are falsified to the highest degree. Nothing should be taken seriously from a crazy mans mind.

Yeah I think that's my best bet. I would honestly cry if someone harvested my tree before I did.

I've been growing this plant since end march now, its about a foot tall

The only thing that can separate us is death of the other...

But I'm getting worried

The last 3 days, the bottom phyllodes are losing their mimosa-ish leaves.. Kinda going gold color then dropping off. The top layer of phyllodes never developed these tho, so I'm wondering if that's just a phase it goes thru, because the phyllodes ate the bottom are still nice and green

But yea, seriously lovely plant, and its tough as nails so far

It seems to be happier in dry conditions, altho I do water it when I feel it needs.. When I watered it in the beginning I watered it a lot, and the phyllodes would droop down, when it gets dry the pop up, some even almost vertical
With every great plan comes the pleasure of patience. Take a rest, and grab a suckle off the teat of life!

If you want some big Acacia Acumins, pot them out (?) 3 ft tall or just come and harvest as many as you want...the offer is here.

OK, Mother Nature, here's a list of all the colours. Which one should we use for the skin of Chameleons?

"Yes."

That's perfectly normal. The first leaves to appear have those few pairs of mimosa-ish tip leaves you mention, and after a few months the new leaves will have a "pure" phyllode shape and the old ones will slowly be replaced.

Think of phyllodes like extensions of the stem.
