It seem like a very easy way to extract the dmt from the plant he is using. I wondered if this is too good to be true or is it actually possible?

I'm not even going to watch the video.

All I have to say is this: Read and learn. Don't do something you don't understand simply because it looks easy. Try to understand what each step is actually doing.

You can learn from videos as well, but unless you have at least a basic understanding of what each step is accomplishing I wouldn't suggest going through with an extraction.

If a person is so anxious to try DMT that they don't have the time to do some basic research on the extraction of the molecule I would argue they probably aren't ready to try it at all.

The extraction process really is not a difficult thing to grasp.

Before my first extraction I swear I spent 2 weeks straight reading threads on this board (which I admit may of been overkill) but I will be forever grateful for the knowledge I gained sifting through the various threads.

First of all, welcome to the nexus!

The extraction outlined in the video is basically an STB (check our FAQ for more info), it is quite a common kind of method.

I like the fact that the video at least outlines some safety measures, but it misses a few important tips/steps. For example, the way the video mentions separation of solvent layer from mimosa soup should be done is by pouring, but this is very messy and innacurate. You will only be able to pour out a bit of the solvent layer without getting the rest of mimosa soup in. Also, it is NOT ok to get 'brown' together with your solvent.. The brown will be some of the mimosa basic layer and you should not be smoking that. Instead, better separate the layers with a pipette or turkey baster. Also it's recommended to do a simple sodium carbonate wash (also outlined in our FAQ), so as to wash away any of the mimosa liquid+lye that might have come across. You could also look into freeze precipitating instead of that final evaporation, which is also very easy and results in cleaner product and you can reuse the naphtha

Last thing, the video method uses a ridiculous amount of naphtha. No way in hell you need 8 liters of naphtha or something, thats absurd. For that amount of mimosa, a liter of naphtha should be enough, 150ml per pull x 6 pulls or something.

By the way, regarding the existance of the video itself.. I don't know liveleak, and even though the video has a basic outline of the extraction proceedure itself (with some innacuracies/problems as mentioned), I think the problem with such videos is that they don't offer any kind of context for the extraction and use of DMT. So anybody can just go, watch the video, extract and sell it or use it innapropriately or any of the things we are so against. This is why here in the Nexus we try to help people not only to extract, but how to prepare themselves, what kind of people should or not smoke, the 'if when and where' to smoke, how to integrate the experience, etc etc. So it's not that I'm against a video per se, but it can very easily be taken out of context and used innapropriately, call more negative attention in general, which is why we avoid these videos here.

that video recommends lye as a base, you do NOT want to be ingesting lye in any form (it is extremely caustic)

i have almost no chemical knowledge and i know this is a HUGE mistake, i can only imagine how poorly informed the maker of that video is.

if simplicity is the attraction, i assure you most teks are equally simple.

Lye is fine so long as you don't suck up any base layer when doing pulls. For extractions where bark pieces will still be present in the basic layer, it's also sort of necessary to get a full yield.

I would not watch a video. You will not understand what your are exactly doing in each step... seriously I want to understand what I do because... at some point your own health is at risk!

I don't see anything wrong with a video if it is well presented and well explained and full of good infomation, I think you can get across just as much info in this medium as you can in a written tek. Some people are better at learning through visual means so it may help them tremendously.

So anyone could basically see this video, mimic what they say like 'monkey see monkey do' and then when headlines of "teen blinded in wannabe Heisenberg drug lab gone wrong" alongside mindless types dosing up without regard or due diligence the hammer falls good and proper for one and all.

End of the day this kind of video upload (out of place on any website that will host it) is irresponsible and self-centered. Some semblance of sense is finally coming around concerning certain drug legislation in various countries. The last thing that is needed is excuse for old mindsets to bunker in further. This kind of thing extends the olive branch to such mindlessness (imo).

Besides, I would think if mimicking videos was a good idea the nexus would have had something similar posted for sometime now (and a V2.0 likely massively improved upon by the one and only Cyb lol).

I personally saw nothing wrong with the video, and as for the lye you get into the extract it says to re-x it so I don't see anything bad about this video?

That is why you may need to learn a little bit more about proper and safer way to extract DMT before you start. All info you need for doing that is here on this forum.

This response is not only for you ADAM but for all who think there is nothing wrong about mentioned video.

There's a certain charm about following a proper tek. Learning about each step and discovering exacting WHY you are doing it is essential to the process IMO.
Didn't watch the video, but I'm assuming its a step-by-step demonstration, which is alright, but at that point it's more of a "recipe" than a recognized tek. It is important to acknowledge each step and understand exactly what you're doing and why you are doing it. You're putting the final product into your own body/mind after all, best to do it right.

wow this video is the WORST tek ever! It must be made by the bad idea company or something!

Only follow this video if you want dangerous spills, wasted naphtha (8 liters for 150g of mimosa-WTH?!), dangerous fumes in your entire living space and dirty/waxy dmt.

What i think is that as long as you don't know your chemistry ,and the theory behind those steps of extraction ,the video isn't good ,and from what i saw it can also mislead people .

Judging by the comments for that video, i'd say a good portion of the people that watched it, are not informed enough to extract dmt, or use it responsibly for that matter, or share it responsibly with others.

Couple that with the terribly put together "recipe", not extraction/tek guide that includes all the necessary information, its a recipe for disaster.

The person who produced that video and uploaded it, first should be ashamed for putting it out there, and secondly remove it if possible for harm reductions sake.

I just came across this video as well, Got my hopes up over it. glad I didn't follow it.
