Evening all. Smile

I was given a young Albizia julibrissin rosea today, due to its use in Chinese herbal medicine and my interest in healing plants and my passion for growing or foraging for as much food and useful plants as I can. Sustainably of course! Confused
Anyway, it looks just like a X between an Acacia and a Mimosa pudica (The leaves even closed up as it got dark earlier) Its even referred to as Mimosa Tree, The Tree of Happiness (In Chinese medicine) though most commonly Silk Tree. Medicinaly it is reportedly one of the most valued Chinese botanicals. The flowers and bark seem to have been used for centuries to: elevate mood, promote mental calmness, and for supporting a healthy mood during periods of occasional anxiety and stress. Well, I struggled to find out much about its chemistry (Stuck on a PS3 console for a few days, so no pdf's etc!), but there seemed to be research hinting at, at least mild psycoactive properties and even possible tryptamine content. A bit stuck to find out much more and my huge lack of scientific knowledge in these things could mean I'd miss so much of it anyway! Id hate to imply something inaccurate or miss something interesting either!
So, basically its easily available, useful in traditional medicine and I just thought I'd share this incase anyone's had dealings with it as far as alkaloids are concerned?

Albizzia julibrissin (once placed in Mimosa) is native to southwestern and eastern Asia, from Persia east to China and Korea. It is also widely known as Persian silk tree. Albizzia julibrissin has been found to possess antidepressant properties, most likely mediated through 5-HT1A receptors.[Ref: PMID 17477962] it contains serotonin & noripinephrine (Applewhite 1973)

Apologies for the faux pas.
I hadn't turned any info up here earlier in the wiki, and have been using duckduckgo as my search engine which didn't seem to throw up any links back here, I possibly missed it in my haste to share what little I did know and had sleepy eyes too! (No tracking cookies etc. on duckduckgo, a back up, due to sharing some of the computer equipment here, usess an anonymous 'cloud' to intercept them for you, then deleting as you leave, apparently) Smile
Sure, wrong place to post, I'm slowly getting the hang of this place. Embarrased

Do you need me to move the post? ... if so can you point me to the 'light switch', please? Rolling eyes

Like I say, I pretty new to all this, so thank you for your patience! Very happy
