So theres a thing,
some 15 years ago my mum returned from a holiday in tenerife with a sneaky collection of seedpods from various plants see liked the look of, among them was a huge hard slightly curved pod (app. 30+cm L and app. 5cm W or so, if memory serves) it was very dark brown and it sat in the Pot purri bowl for many years. Finally, my mum thought to try and grow from the seeds and the one sparse plant has sat by the window on the staircase ever since. Its at least 10 years old, but due to its location, its pot bound lack of fresh nutrients and the fact that every time it attempts to put any hight or width it is mercilessly pruned due to its long and unforgiving thorns, it has very thin long bi-pinite leaves has never flowered and Im quite surprised its alive at all. Still, I only realised what it was an hour ago!
Well, my mum thinks she has photos of the parent plant with its seed pods and apparently both yellow and pink flowers, but bare in mind, as she said, she is nearly 70, but is sure she can find the photos. I'll upload them together with some snaps of the poor thing in its present incarnation here at a later date and perhaps I can give it a new lease of life with at least a bigger pot some new soil and a safer home!
Just thought it was ironic considering my earlier post, to find this not 20 feet from where I was sat, I just clicked, so I went and looked and yup, its an Acacia.

Its a start, maybe.
