In Buddhism, the whole life cycle the OP speaks of is called the Wheel of Life. Here is a pretty bad ass psychedelic representation of it. Tell me that's not psychedelic, especially the psycho looking God head figure holding that thing. That bad ass dude is Yama, btw, lord of death. It symbolizes the impermanence of all things.

Anyway, the point I want to make is that yes, there is a cycle to life, as well as death, and I believe that the Buddhist wheel is a fairly accurate representation of the stages we all find ourselves in. The death phase, too, has its place..... however, also ends apparently, as we spontaneously find ourselves embodied. I once read of a spiritual person (sorry, forget who), describe existence as "there is silence, and then there is a wave, and then there is silence, and so on". Or something to that extent. Silence referring to non existence, and waves referring to perception.

As others have said, there is no actual 'you' that gets reincarnated. What are you anyway? When all is said and done, you are no more than thought. The only thing that makes you real is your experience of each moment. Once each moment has past, that you no longer exists except as a memory. Once you are dead, you no longer exist, except perhaps as residual psychic waves. But you will no longer exist anymore than you exist YESTERDAY, or an unborn child exists next year. You can only exist now, and once you no longer have any experience of now, you no longer exist. However, I do believe the world is composed of spiritual energy.... but I'm not sure if that spiritual energy is conscious of itself, or if it is only our awareness that gives the universe some form of consciousness. But that energy is one being, so our consciousness is all others, and all objects as well.

Anyway, about reincarnation, it is likely that whatever psychic energy one accumulates in this world impacts their experience of death, and the afterlife, if there is one, and the next life. I would guess that ones next life has an imprint of the energy of this life, but lacking specific memory. Kind of the same way that a person may make designs in wet cement and whatever designs are made, the water will fill to form the shape of that imprint. Water being a metaphor for new life, and the imprint being the karma that one leaves behind. This is all metaphysical speculation, but it seems to make cosmic sense to me, lol.

Here is a more detailed explanation of the Wheel of Life, if anyone is interested

You only live once

All the meanderings of the physical body in relation to all the other physical manifestations upon which you depend are in a state of eternal recurrence.

The selection of a birth is not your choice. What does it mean to transcend yourself?

This is where the idea of quantum computers is very helpful. If you are to transcend yourself, what do you transcend yourself to? Well, essentially to the "Dharma" or to the law, or to the programming of the "Human/Consciousness" matrix.

Of course "You" just die and that's the end of it, your "life" was the manifestion of one possible "route" of many. If emotional maturity had been gained, the "quintessential essence of one's whole life" will at lightning speed select the DNA which compliments that essence.

I do buy that we pick up where we leave off, so to speak. But i don't buy that we pop up right in the place where we died or whatever. We simply continue on our way to emotional maturity.

Of course at the same time, the higher self does not "reincarnate" but rather looks upon that specific sequences of lives which manifested it as it's own development in the womb. It is out of it's own control, and would appear from one angle to have been predestined. It is scripted and acted like a movie, only it was all improvisation and it is retrospectively looked at very fondly by all who participated as the most beautiful piece of artwork ever. But with the understanding of quantum computers obviously everything is predestined .

This is why it is the "emotional center" which reincarnates into a "different" life so to speak.

Because it's the only thing which ultimately leads to the development of a fully evolved being, everything else is like the seed coat, which is shed.

You, as an idea, only live once. Of course, you as a being live forever. I love you.

I didn't read all the posts in this thread but my personal belief, is that your all your chakras and your essence condenses into your heart chakra and from there you can go where you want ( other dimensions, reincarnate, return to the source etc.).

Possibly, but some state that we do [pre-reincarnation] choose our parents...fantastic as that sounds. I myself don't know.

I think it means to reach and surpass the limit of your (human) consciousness.

The next realm? The next level? As you say: "Well, essentially to the "Dharma" or to the law, or to the programming of the "Human/Consciousness" matrix".

Some esotericists exclaim that in time (over a long, long period of time) mankind will gain the ability to recall past lives.

I do wonder if many, many, many years from now I will recall this "me" that writes this post today. I hope so! Maybe you will recall your post, too. Maybe? Who knows. For sure?

Love and peace (this life and the next Confused )

Yes reincarnation seems obvious to me but over the years this thought has become more complicated. We really do not know and yes it is noting to argue over cause we canot prove any of it really..

When I was a teenager I meditated alot never touched drugs just explored my mind. Do not know and cannot prove that my meditations were real or imaginary but I have seen what I believe to be a part of "my" past lives.

The me or I in reincarnation can become really complicated and I have been exploring family in this recently following genes evolving in a way. There is no I really a combined enity of genes that already existed in a different form evolving?

When I did past live regression I was looking into fears I have in this life and was shown my death in a few past lives and this is why I am scared of and worked on these fears cause they are not really a part of this life I believe they are a fear to teach not to do... So I respected these fears but still worked on them lol still working on them like they are lessons to learn Pleased

The only thing I am certian of is the more i think about it the more confused I get I am not overly obsessed about it anymore cause we really do not know and acceptance of that has let go of the obsession for me, for me it was an obsession I had to know Smile now I like reading what others think cause none of us are right or wrong here really Smile

I feel @ 1 in the sun
All in all is all we r. Nirvana
