A mystery plant started to emerge in a humidity chamber/propagator amongst my cacti. I presumed its seed was either accidently mixed in with my cacti seeds, or it was accidently mixed in with my cacti soil. The seeds and cacti soil were both purchased from the same supplier.

As we all know, Peruvian Torch seeds are tiny, so any bigger seed would have been easily noticeable. However, I made no such observation when sowing the seeds. This led me to believe that this plant either had a tiny seed similar to that of the cacti, or the seed was bigger and was mixed within the soil.

I decided to move the plant from the propagator, into its own pot. It's rather flimsy and delicate, so I have very loosely bound the stem to a garden cane, so it is just lightly resting on the twine.

The seed supplier has a lovely plant stock, entheogenic and otherwise. This plant could fall into either category. I have carried out comparisons of this plant with other seeds and live plants this supplier stocks.

It seems too small to be Argyreia Nervosa or Calea Zacatechichi; it is certainly not a grass species; it looks nothing like Mullein, Yopo, Wormwood, Mimosa etc; its definitely not a succulent or cactus variety.

The closest match I could find is Nepeta Cataria. I am almost convinced I have correctly identified the mystery plant. May I ask, have any fellow Nexians ever grown Catnip from seed, and can you confirm my theory?

Catnip seeds are somewhat larger than those of Trichocereus Peruvianus, so I'm presuming the seed found its way into the cacti soil mix.

Peace

Macre

It looks way to wet in the soil, or did you just water it heavily after a really dry period?
Maybe that is why it died, to wet feet/roots?
Not many plants tolerate very wet conditions.

Just an observation, too bad it died for you.

Growing active and sacred plants and mushrooms is fun.
Chemistry and technology is fun.
Anger, violence and restricting rules are NO fun...

Hey Grower. I had just misted it when that picture was taken. As it was only a small seedling, I give it a misting here and there.

Catnip indeed. I have to put a guard cage around this when I grow I it as my cats will destroy a full grown plant in 15 min.
