I've heard a lot of people, particularly those with a good amount of experience, say that they've lost interest in smoking dmt because, unlike ayahuasca, they just can't seem to get anything out of it to apply to their everyday lives.

You guys don't see it that way do you??

Personally, I just smoked a good 35mg the other day and I found it to be very mental and almost philosophical. I had a little 2 liner thing pop into my head earlier that day. I thought that I could maybe incorporate it into a refrain in a song. It was kinda catchy but it related to my frustrations with my marriage and how certain things have turned out for me.

Anyway, packed up the spice in my bong, took a good rip off it and one of the first things I realized was that I never wrote down my 2 liner and it escaped my memory. I usually just lay there in awe when I spice but then I'm never really sure exactly what I saw. So this time, I told myself that I was gonna try to bring at least something tangible/recognizable back with me. I began to think about how it seems like I've been having a hard time relating to people lately. Then I felt like I couldn't relate to any of these "machine elves" either. But then, within the patterns, I saw an alien like figure holding a jar or container of some sort, much like the jar that I used for my extraction. I couldn't tell what was in the jar but it didn't matter. And, by this time, I thought of how easily it could be for me to become obsessed over something as simple as the word "relate".

One of the last things that I remember from the trip is having a strong sense of feeling like I really AM supposed to be with my wife, despite all the other contradictory thoughts that frequent my mind. And then the dmt said, "Here you go douche. Here's your hook back." and I remembered my 2 liner.

I don't know. Maybe a lot has to do with how much is on your mind at that given time when you decide to spice up. But I don't think it should be written off as a purely visual experience with nothing to gain from. Plus, it fits into my life very nicely right now. I can still trip but not tie up so much time. Smile

very interesting experience, thanks for sharing

Ive never had (smoked) dmt tell me something yet, only show things. I dont remember any specific conscious lesson from smoking dmt (though a LOT from ayahuasca), but I do think it does benefit me in a subtle way, like a shock to remind me that there is so much more to reality than routine and consensual human knowledge.

Whether figuratively or literally speaking, the whole idea of meeting with other hyperspace beings and having so amazingly intricate and 'out there' visions is one more reinforcer of 'feeling a part of something greater'. This feeling when transformed into daily life subtly is very beneficial I think

I have to say, I disagree heartilly; but untill recently I was in your camp. Its only after about 2 years of smoking spice that I finally asked the right question. (or the right kind of questions.)
DMT IS, and can be, an immensely powerful tool for motivation, inspiration, realisation, creation and revelation!
But most importantly, It depends on you and your intentions with it.
If your interested, read my last thread: http://www.dmt-nexus.me/....aspx?g=posts&t=4312 to see what I mean.

I disagree entirely with the idea that there's nothing to gain. It may not magically infuse your brain with new knowledge of any kind, but it does help to keep you grounded (ironic) in a sense and to think outside of the box in SWIM's opinion.

Is this really the word on smoked DMT - nothing to gain? Because this is not at all my experience. My first time, around 40 mg I was overwhelmed and gained little but an amazing sense of the depth and complexity of the potential of mental experience. Since then, with usually smaller doses, sometimes mixed with MJ and/or harmaline, I've had a number of profoundly educational experiences in which I gained important insights into my self or the nature of consciousnesss/universe. I agree that intent is important, but even putting that aside, I find and have found smoked DMT an amazing revelation. Without a doubt the most amazing substance I have ever experienced, and that would include most of the major psychedelics.

Yes of course, I agree with you. This thread is on a consensus of duration meaning that no complete or whole lesson be taken from a 5-10 minute freebased/vaporized n,n-DMT experience alone, but who is to say what lesson is objectively gained or not?

You were using RIMA's (transient MAOI's/harmaline) in combo with smoked DMT so one would guess you had a longer more substantial trip with those RIMA's correct?

Yes I'd say that with harmaline the trips extend from around 10-15 minutes to close to an hour.

The peak stayed at around 10 minutes but there were definite DMT effects felt long after that. This seemed like a good time to integrate some of the information I was receiving during the peak itself. But I was definitely still tripping - seeing visual patterns open or closed-eyes, feeling a tryptamine body load, etc.

After having used harmaline to extend the duration I think I will probably continue to use this combination rather than freebase itself, unless I am trying to go for "breakthrough" experiences with larger doses.

The only problem with it I saw was that it was TOO good. In other words, after I came down I wanted to do more, and found I had minor DMT cravings over the next few days. These were not cravings for the physical state so much as cravings for the sorts of information and patterns revealed to me during the trip.
