SWIM recently had his second and third DMT experiences. Both where extremley pronounced and all consuming when occurring, but within 10 minutes or so SWIM was unable to remember much at all.
Is this common? Are there ways of improving SWIMs memory of hyperspace on future visits?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I had a crazy one yesterday. I remembered to write things down while it is still fresh. This will trigger more and more memories. You can't take all of it back, (i'm sure there are ways)

I used the opportunity when dmt was still active in my system to do some automatic writing (musing, channeling, poetry) to possibly explain what i was experiencing.

Fresh air, meditate, breathing. Pay attention! Don't give way to astonishment. Pleased

I'm exactly the same, I remember very little of the deeper journeys. If I drink alcohol prior to tripping I will recall nothing so I never combine the two. If I really want to remember things I will sacrifice the later parts of the trip and just start talking (to anyone else in the room or to myself if alone) about where I've been and what happened. Keep talking until well after the trip has finished. This really helps remembering the trip itself and you'll also remember what you were talking about.

I rarely smoke grass but when I do I smoke allot. When I'm very stoned all sorts of DMT memories will come flooding back to me! This can be extremely intense, almost as intense as DMT trips themselves!

very common try drinking a guayusa tea before and do your best to talk about it right after or write it down but id bet the guayusa would make a difference

Really? Guayusa is a stimulant, right?
Obviously, I will need to look that up, and try it.
As for many, remembering my DMT trips can be hard, but it seems the more familiar with it I become, the more I do.

Sometimes, I'll enter a space I recognize, realizing I've had the exact vision before but had forgotten.

The advice regarding writing, drawing, talking is good. Keeping a hyperspace diary, where you record immediate thoughts upon return and integration thoughts is helpful for me.
I usually go alone, but having a sitter who can tell what you did or what you may have uttered is helpful.

I've recorded the sound of some of my trips, intending to capture some strange vocalizations that sometimes occur and see if they sound as strange as I think while I'm high, and listening to the tapes is interesting, on a couple i have absolutely no recall now, or even right after of what I'm describing.

In one, I go on about satan and a four dimensional coca-Cola ad, and have no idea what I'm talking about now.
I don't follow x-ian dogma, and really- hyperspace coke ads? IDK

Things known to help with recall..

Making Audio/Video recordings of the moment and rewatching.
Noting down as soon as possible everything one can.
Abstaining from Cannabis for a good while prior to journey.
Getting into meditation.

All the above have helped for me with exception of the recording aspect which a friend has said assisted him.

Hope this helps Wink

It can improve greatly with practice. I'd start meditating more often, and smoking dmt when your in one of those calm and focused meditative states. The more clam and coherent I am the more I tend to remember....Although some things/aspects just can't be fully digested and stored by our left brain state of consciousness.

I find that my memory while on psychedelics is often multi-sensory and vastly superior to my normal memory. And while still tripping I can usually recall way more about my past experiences than I am normally capable of.

Also, if you find yourself wanting to remember more after an experience, but yoru not feeling ready to jump back in fully again, just smoke a lower dose

The primary methods I have been using are.

No cannabis for at least 6 hours beforehand (tapering off to quit here as I want my dreams back)

Meditation for one half hour to one hour beforehand, focusing on my intent to enter without expectation, not give way to astonishment and to learn from the experience.

Audio record the trip.

Immediately speak with my spouse who journeys "with" me, also on tape (as in we take turns and each describe after).

"Many of us who have experienced psychedelics feel very much that they are sacred tools. They open spiritual awareness."
"The elimination of the fear of death transforms the individual's way of being in the world." -Stanislav Grof

"My advice to people today is as follows: if you take the game of life seriously, if you take your nervous system seriously, if you take your sense organs seriously, if you take the energy process seriously, you must turn on, tune in, and drop out."
"Drop Out--detach yourself from the external social drama which is as dehydrated and ersatz as TV. Turn On--find a sacrament which returns you to the temple of God, your own body. Go out of your mind. Get high. Tune In--be reborn. Drop back in to express it. Start a new sequence of behavior that reflects your vision." -Timothy Leary

Hi guys
Since swim last posted he has had a few more journeys in which he remembers much more.
He still never sees entities or at least doesn't remember them, but they show him how to alter reality(same place visited every time)
A combination of less cannabis before, and smoking just spice in a oil burner has improved it. Swim also practices deep breathing before a trip, and talks as soon as he feels he can to allow sitters to help.
Thanks for the tips and responses
