During OEVs, I'll sometimes see wooden objects (door, floorboards, furniture) moving, coming alive. Most notably the lines, or "growth rings" in the wood, as well as the whole thing pulsing subtly. Wondering if anyone has had the same experience.
This is pretty convincing to me that what I'm seeing is in fact real, though it's still hard to believe. For example, I could probably be shown imitation wood next to real wood, and I'd get visuals from the real wood but not the imitation. It would be interesting to try.
Another question I don't want to create an new thread about: Sometimes I feel that intense euphoric happy loving feeling and sometimes I don't feel it at all. Why? I'm thinking maybe because the spice is impure or oxidized.

From another Site: Quote: Flowing - Flowing, shifting, rippling or moving surfaces are a strong visual effect that seems to occur almost exclusively on textures, particularly if they are highly detailed, complex or rough textures. A classic example of this would be wood grain or carpets flowing like a river in a seamless, looped animation. A consistent way to reproduce this visual is to stare at wood grain and lose focus.

I think it has more to do with the complexity of the wood grain and not so much the source (i.e. whether it's real or imitation wood - though I welcome you to experiment with that). I had a checkerboard carpet, and it was always the first thing to catch anyone's attention who smoked DMT in my house. It would instantly start moving and becoming holographic. If you study any amount of textures in your immediate environment from the paint on the walls, to the grain in the wood to fibers in a carpet or the way dirt or snow clumps or how water droplets disperse or any number of these things can cause similar effects. nerevar wrote:

DMT is highly unpredictable. As you continue to develop expectations about what should or shouldn't happen during the experience, the more it will simply shatter your expectations. I don't think it has to do with the purity or oxidation of the DMT, so much as a host of variables, many of which are unknown or not controllable by you. If you're met by loving entities that choose to show you loving emotions, then you will experience euphoria. On a different day those same entities may show you different emotions, or react to you differently. With no entities present at all, it's just a big game of chance. You experience emotions based on the way energies and frequencies interact with you. Nothing is guaranteed. "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein

Quote:It would instantly start moving and becoming holographic. It must have to do something with the brains altered pattern recognition functionality. It somehow interpolates patterns, where are none. I.e. the floor in my living room looks about like this: After smoalking it looks more like this: Everything is always okay in the end, if it's not, then it's not the end.

And those multicoloured feet just appear?!!?? ^^^^^ Wow!! I have always thought one main component of the psychedelic experience was to put our pattern recognition software into hyperdrive, explaining why forms and shaped appear out of grey noise with closed eyelids. Also known as apophenia. And while I don't discount the notion of real existing entities (but am naturally sceptical) I have always believed that on top of apophenia and behind our lids we experience a hyperactive version of pareidolia, one aspect of which is facial recognition (human, animal or alien) in random patterns. Our internal facial recognition software is so sophisticated that even a baby recognizes a face in a mere (mirror!) pair of dots and a squiggle in a circle. JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.

Quote:And those multicoloured feet just appear?!!? Some meet entities other meet multicolored feet. Quote:Also known as apophenia You seem to have a bit of knowledge regarding how pattern recognition works. Can you eventually point me to a source where such things are explained in a way that somebody who hasn't studied neuro biology can understand? Or give me hints what to look up? I once found this document „Geometric visual hallucinations, Euclidean symmetry and the functional architecture of striate cortex“ but that's waaaay to complicated for me to undestand. It's a pitty as I really like know more about how this stuff works. Everything is always okay in the end, if it's not, then it's not the end.

The gaps in my knowledge are dangerous chasms I regularly tumble into, but I try to accrue at least enough knowledge to be dangerous. Look up those two terms on wikepedia - they are fairly well explained there. In the meantime, I will check out the article in the link you posted, but I'll likely end up scanning over it - the formalized science bits are either uninteresting to me (to be generous!) or over my head, like you (to be realistic!). I have to say in that last picture with the boots, it really is what acid makes the ground (and other textured areas) look like to me with the patterned flowery clumping. How did you make that if I might ask? "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein
