Hey guys, im having problems extracting from acbr. Here's the breakdown of my process:

Boil acbr with vinegar with a ph of 4 for 2 hours, then let it sit in the freezer until frozen , and i do this 3 times.

Add naoh till ph is 12, then add naphta and mix 4 times till layers seperate. Add vinegar to achieve a ph of 4 again, mix 2 times, get rid of naphta.

Basify to 12 again, add naphta, mix 4 times, and siphon off naphta and place in shallow pyrex dish for freeze precipitation.

Here's where it goes bad - I see the crystals in the fridge, sorta like tiny snowglobes, but when i let it dry up, all the crystals disappear and i get this oily byproduct.

This is very weird, because i defatted it, and this shouldn't be possible. Anyways, I heard people do get oily extracts time and again, and i tasted a tiny bit of it to see if it was safe to consume/smoke, and it tasted terrible (it was either too acidic, basic, or maybe had a bit of naphta).

Can anyone shed some light on this please? This is my first time.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

First of all, dont go tasting random things that you dont know what it could be. Unless you are taking it out of the naptha and letting it dry completely, that is a very bad idea to do. You dont want to be ingesting traces of naptha.

As far as the goo goes, extracts that end up in goo are just as good as ones that end up in crystals. Acacia tends to have more NMT in the mix that gets extracted, and at room temp NMT is an oil. This would explain why when taken out of the freezer it turns into a goo.

Freeze it, remove all the naptha while it is still frozen cold, and let the goo dry out completely. Once its completely dry, try smoking a little of it. Worst case scenario I can imagine would be that you have a lot of plant fats and oils. This is not harmful though, and may just require a larger dose then spice without plant fats and oils.

Also, your extraction method seems a little off...? Maybe someone else can chime in on that. What tek did you use?

How do i tell if it's dried up completely, and that the stuff is only oil and not traces of naphta?

Edit: I didn't really follow a tek, but i just used the basic theory of acids and bases and their interactions with a non polar solvent.

As a foundation, i used:
https://www.dmt-nexus.me...aspx?g=posts&t=39030
https://wiki.dmt-nexus.m...ybrid_ATB_%27Salt%27_Tek

It looks fine to me, really. The double basification is to get rid of the oil, which is why i'm surprised that there's any in the second naphta pull.

You can not just get rid of the oil. NMT is an oil, and it is in ACRB. Therefor your going to be pulling NMT as well as DMT. This is fine, NMT is active as well. The higher presence of NMT is why ACRB gives a slightly different experience then say Mimosa, or Chaliponga. The two basifications is just to remove fats and oils from the plant that are not active tryptamines.

As far as telling if its ok to smoke, you should be able to smell if there is any naptha left. Mix it around a little, and smell it. If it still smells of naptha, its not completely dry yet. You could also place the good into a bottle and seal it, like a pill bottle, and cure it like you would with marijuana. Take the cap off and leave it off for a few hours. Place the cap back on for another hour or so, and repeat. Once there is no more naptha smell it should be ok.

The above curing process also works very well for making good Changa. If you have a decent amount of spice, you may want to go ahead and make changa with it. This is the best way to smoke the goo IMO. Just heat up some 99% isopropyl alcohol in a warm water bath, and mix in your goo until its all dissolved. Once you have this mix made, add it to some leaf material that is ok to smoke and let it evaporate, while stirring it around every half hour or so.

If you decide to make changa, use the same weight of leaf material that you have of DMT goo. So if you have a gram of goo, evaporate the alcohol onto a gram of leaf material. There is a good guide for making the best changa in the changa section of the forum. I recommend checking it out.

It has this weird smell, not like naphta, but similar with a lighter tone.
How does the curing process work?

If you base then add naphtha you're going to start pulling DMT. So that naphtha you discarded probably had some goodies in it. At least I would think so. The oils come in later pulls rather than in the first. I find the first pulls are the milkiest and most saturated with DMT.

This is common with acacia.

If you want to separate the crystal from the goo, I would suggest trying the Lextek. Here's the link: https://wiki.dmt-nexus.me/Lextek#Part_5:_Defat_Step_1:_Acid_Wash

The defat is done after the initial naphtha pull. So you pull the oils then just do an acid wash to separate. I haven't tried this myself yet, but the next extraction I'm fairly confident this defatting step will do the job. I plan on keeping the goo and trying it out by itself, just out of curiosity. The first pulls are very milky and full of DMT. When you start getting a lot of the goo the naphtha will be very yellow.

And yes, please don't go tasting things. It should have a distinct smell of DMT, which is somewhat like the smell of....well.....sperm Laughing Or maybe a little mothball smell too. And as long as it doesn't smell like naphtha, it should be good to go. Naphtha doesn't take too long to evaporate, especially since there should only be small amounts after you pour it off.

Also something I noticed you didn't mention was filtering. Did you filter out the bark? I try to get my tea really clean before I base it. I filter through cheese cloth after each boil, I reduce and repeat the cheese cloth filter. Then once reduced to a decent volume I let it sit overnight then pour it through a coffee filter or cotton balls and leave the sludge that's settled on the bottom behind. It may not be necessary...I'm not sure...but I've always had clean results and great yields.

I measured the goo, and it's at a ph of 8, so it's fine in that regard. Is it possible that the oil can contain lye or naphta?

At a pH of 8, there should not be any traces of lye. What you need to worry about is traces of Naptha. If it does not smell AT ALL like naptha, then you should be fine.

Just follow a tek on here for making changa, and do that. It is the best way to use goo extractions, because the goo can be very difficult to weigh out and manipulate for smoking.
