I recently started adding new members to my garden! I'd like to record their progression for myself and possibly for anyone interested. Once I'm able to post in other areas and my plants are more developed I'll start breaking these guys up into their own threads.
Something that I've become extremely interested in is producing new strains! Specifically in cacti, caapi, tea (not documenting this one here), and slowly but surely mimosa. As far as cacti go, I'm planning on starting with bridgesii. Got a nice cutting from some old schools and seedlings from another (so-far-so-good) source.

I plan on being VERY thorough with my analysis before I select a plant and move on to the next generation, be it growth rate, size, more finite details, ect. This is something that's going to take years at the lowest and longer than my entire lifetime at the highest to do, but it's all in good fun, with good intent, and much love for the plants so no biggie.
I'm still very much learning (as I always will be) so if you have any criticism or advice I'd very much like to here it, it all helps.

I got the cutting (bridgesii) around the middle of May, standing about 23". It had some black dots/fungus growing on the top when i received it so I had to cut about 3 inches off. Pups started growing shortly after.

I went to Montana for a week and came back to these little guys barely holding on (not enough water). These are about 3-4 week old bridgesii seedlings. They were really small and hard to take a picture of with my camera so sorry for the quality. They are also still slightly brown, but they're coming back very fast (only going to lose 1 I think

).

These are my two mimosa's (other is in tent), very excited about these guys.

Pereskiopsis and caapi cuttings. Still trying to get the caapi to take root, but I'm about to move the pere into soil.
Should also note that this is not all I'm planning on using to start breeding with. It's just the beginning.
