Hello nexians
last night i ingested four grams of dried cubensis mushrooms, and i felt next to nothing. if i tried really hard i could make my carpet move, and the austin powers movie was a little funnier than usual, and along with some body sensations that was it. i did not trip in any way, it was not even worth eating four grams of the most disgusting mushrooms ive ever seen. I think it may be due to the fact that i take 10mg of citalopram which is an ssri, anti depressant, and i did take it that night too. could that be the culprit? i imagine 4 grams would be an amazing experience, but in actuality it was boring and not worth it, was very frustrating too. i want to get off of the anti depressants, i hate taking them, but every time i try to stop i get horrible withdrawals.

SSRIs can affect a psychedelic trip, diminish it's effects (and please don't ever mix SSRIs with stimulants or MAOIs like in ayahuasca)
Appart from that, you were taking some unknown mushrooms. It might be the mushrooms were bad to begin with, so who knows.
Better grow the mushrooms yourself next time.
Why do you take citalopram? How long has it been? Do you regularly discuss with your doctor a plan regarding your treatment ? Does your treatment consist in anything more than taking the substance?
Depending on what condition you have, might not be the best idea to take psychedelics.

Yes i know about maoi's thank you for the warning. when i was younger i was having a really hard time going through depression, so i went to a psychiatrist and got prescribed a lot of different medications until i felt citalopram worked. its been about 2 years, and when i go to my doctor i always tell him i want off, so i have been cutting the pill in half from 20 mg to 10 mg every night, but even when i don't take one of those pills i go through withdrawals and its horrible. And i don't usually like to talk to my psychiatrist, theres not really much i can talk about, no deep problems i can't sort out myself or talk to a friend about. i don't think i have depression, sometimes i'm sad sometimes i'm happy. i have a strong mind i just need to get off of this medication.

Maybe you can find a more understanding psychiatrist who understands your desire to get off the medication and can be more helpful with it?
Good luck!

You know what needs to be done I don't suggest you simply stop taking them and suffer through withdrawals...I know what that's like. The withdrawals I've experienced from prescriptions were far worse than withdrawals I've experienced in the past from things like cocaine or MDMA... Do it safely, but my suggestion is to get off the pills. Especially if you feel they don't really help you and are unnecessary. Just tell your doctor you need off this medication right away, as quickly and safely as possible. If he/she strings you along, seems to be drawing out the process, find a new doctor. My tolerance for mushrooms in particular has been permanently altered by the medications I've taken in the past. I need about twice as much as I used to before I ran the pharmaceutical gauntlet. Some of these drugs can bring about permanent changes. I know we're not supposed to give medical advice but since the OP feels he doesn't need the medication anyway, I just thought I'd give some encouragement.

I am not suggesting you do this without consulting your doctor, but I weaned off mirtazapine (remeron) in over 2 months with the schedule listed below. Perhaps you should consult your doctor and ask him if this would be appropriate. 1, 1/2, 1/2, 1, 1/2, 1/2, 1 x 2 weeks 1/2 every day x 2 weeks 1/2, 0, 1/2, 1/2, 0, 1/2, 1/2 x 2 weeks 0, 1/2, 0, 1/2, 0, 1/2, 0 x 2 weeks then stopped. It worked well for me, but again - ask your doctor if it is appropriate for your medicine. Insofar as the mushrooms are concerned, I think Endlessness covered it. I underline his advice to grow your own - it's an awesome hobby! Cheers, JBArk JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.

Isnt st johns wort unsafe to mix with SSRI, since it has some MAOI activities? And yes guys let's please not suggest that he stops his treatment without talking to his doctor... If you want to mention personal experience and mention possible strategies that he can talk to his (or another) doctor about and then decide with professional help, that is fine We don't want to be responsible for someone having severe problems after quitting some treatment due to nexus recommendations..

Taking 5htp along with any amount of SSRIs is a no no. Afterwards I would say its important but do not take any precursors to serotonin while on SSRIs. "Energy flows where attention goes" [Please review the forum Wiki and FAQ before posting questions]

So my first instinct before reading your post is to mention that, I personally am extremely tolerant to ghb, some guy was giving me some and was ultra careful cuz for average dosing 3.5 ml will make you pass out date rape style. and eventually I just lied to him and said Icould feel it and it was great. turns out I have to have 15 mL to pass out.
My sisters friend in highschool, she bought an ounce and between six people they all at them. there was a piel left over her friend, didn't get high, at the leftover pile, still didn't get high, he's got a similar tolerance, but to psilo.
However, it sounds like the effects of the mushrooms were being suppressed. These guys seem to know more about this stuff than me but I think that yeah, it's probably too many things in the seratonin receptors.
don't most SSRIs shrink your receptors?
