Hello everyone. Last night I had a strange and brief encounter with the mushroom that left me scratching my head.

I've done mushrooms roughly 10 times, and I've had very lucid and comfortable experiences most of those times. I had a bad trip once, but it was an ego death of sorts and was overall a rewarding experience. Last night, I decided I'd eat about an 8th with my usual open minded intentions, expecting whatever came. I chewed each piece and swallowed them all within 5 minutes. The come up was very gradual, so I decided to smoke cannabis to aid the effects. They increased slightly, and then I was greeted by what seemed to be a very mellow peak. This occurs about two hours after ingestion. Now this is where it got odd. The effects began to die down rather fast and suddenly I began to feel an incredible pressure accompanied by dizziness. I basically began to feel like I had just gotten a terrible flu, and being concerned I immediately left my room and entered the bathroom to look in the mirror. My lips appeared almost white and suddenly an immense wave of sweat came over my whole body, accompanied by a hot/ cold sensation. After this happened, I was in a bit of a shock. It was very uncomfortable, so I was relieved it ended, but the effects of the mushrooms were basically gone entirely. I was very pleased I was safe, but also disappointed that my trip was cut off before it truly began.

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, or can possibly shed some light on what may have occurred. The trip was entirely over within about two hours. I searched Google after this occurred for similar instances but found none. I did, however, discover that what I experienced was most likely a hot flash. Any input is greatly appreciated!

PS: it was normal p. cubenis

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Were the mushroom old, badly stored, etc? Had you or others consumed from same batch recently? Are you consuming any medication, with some medical issue or radically changed your diet lately? If these questions don't lead to the answer, I have another thought

In short: Expect to deal with all sorts of weird stuff when taking psychedelics.

I know this might not be very satisfying, but it's what I have found out: There is a certain level of predictability with the psychedelic experience that through repeated use one becomes familiar with, but once in a while completely different experiences will happen that will leave you questioning what the hell is going on. Here's a few of the strange things that happened to me, most of those on mushrooms or ayahuasca:

- Taking a large dosage and having no effects
- Small dosage and surprisingly large effects
- Being operated by hyperspacial beings
- Completely forgot I had taken the substance and be like an innocent soul just reborn and completely surprised at everything
- Experience other very realistic lives without any awareness of having used psychedelic.
- Being convinced I would never 'go back'
- Think I had the conscious choice to live or die, only lived because I wanted so.
- Delusion, believing fantastic unrealistic ideas, possibly putting myself in physical danger if I had been in a bad setting.
- Hearing weird gnome-like tricksters whisper random strange words into my ear, doing some kind of bullying.
- Evil entities leech my life energy in a very threatening way
- Spend the whole trip looking at the patterns in my bedsheets thinking I was actually experiencing a galactic war
- Very peculiar synchronicities/coincidences
- A trip that starts 5 minutes after ingestion
- A trip that starts 3 hours after ingestion
- A trip that stops 10 mins after it started
- A trip that lasts many hours more than normal

etc etc...

So if you take these substances, know that at some point these kind of things happen. If you decide it's worth it, then prepare yourself with appropriate dosage set and setting, but know there's always some unpredictability

Sweating and feeling cold is common with mushrooms.
Vasoconstriction limits your blood flow and may make your body feel cold.

Cannabis can have huge impact on your trip and make you paranoid and worried for things
that aren't dangerous.

For me having a full stomach while eating mushrooms gives me all sorts of physical problems and also
a weaker trip. Where you conscious of your diet?
To limit physical discomfort you could try and grind the mushrooms up into
a fine dusty powder (my preferred method) as this greatly reduces side effects.
Some people likes to make tea as well.
I never recommend people to use cannabis with psychedelics. A vast majority of the people I have met who have
had a problematic trip have mixed their psychedelics with cannabis.
I have done this myself as well.

Why your trip ended I have no clue but have read about it happing to people every now and then.

I hope it works out better for you next time though, mushrooms are lovely!

I always found mushroom tea rather than eating mushrooms directly to significantly reduce negative physical effects.
Simply chop up mushrooms finely, add boiling water and mix for 10 mins, then strain out the solids, and drink the broth. Can taste quite pleasant at times.
I have had a similar experience to you, but that was from picking near DEAD RINGER look-alike mushrooms.
When I noticed no good effects, and only bad effects (poisoning) I made myself vomit.
Not pleasant, but it definitely made me feel better.

Thank you all for your responses! I wasn't on any medication nor were there any special circumstances leading up to this trip; I basically went about it with my regular routine I've become comfortable with for the come-up: I waited 20 minutes, got a hot shower while smoking cannabis (which I normally do to ease the transition), and then pleasantly awaited the full effects. I'm very used to cannabis, and even though I don't rule out the possibility, I have some doubts it had a large contribution to my reaction. I personally believe it was either something specific to my biology or with the mushrooms.

I definitely understand that these things are unpredictable, but it surely came off as strange when my mind was on overdrive, only to have it quickly return to normal in such a quick and almost oppressive way. I don't look at the situation negatively or positively at this point, just peculiar (even though at the time my mood definitely shifted towards negativity). Typically I've never gotten a cold sensation with mushrooms (only more awareness of bodily functions), so it surprised me and came off as a new effect. Also the duration of this whole uncomfortable end was literally about a minute. It was a hyper-fast panic ridden type of reaction.

I also went into this on an empty stomach as I normally do. There was no nausea or anything uncomfortable prior to the hot flash, but the effects were clearly diminishing before it happened.

I had consumed a smaller dose (only 1.5 grams) of the same batch 4 days before the trip in question.

When I read: "my lips were white" I immediately thought it could be you were just tripping. Paranoia can lead to bizarre things being experienced, especially with cannabis I've noticed

I once had a trip on 3.2g mush that only lasted 2.5 hours, I just snapped out of it, but the entire time my brain was convulsing while I laid on the bed looking at scrambled images of the room and not realizing where I was or what I was looking at, my friend told me I was calm but it felt like my whole world was vibrating apart

Every journey has its own character in my experience, expect nothing and respect everything
