Hello to all on the forum. I wanted to post an introduction since it appears to be the custom, and since, if I'm going to participate in this community, it seems right to tell the other members a bit about myself. I have recently, through the generosity of a friend, taken my first DMT journey. I think he's probably a member of the forum, but I don't know for certain, and if he is, he hasn't told me his forum name.

I've posted some remarks on that experience over in the "First steps in Hyperspace" section, as it also seems the custom to have a separation between introductions and experience reports. I have, as the title of this thread suggests, come to this place probably later in life than many of you. I've been a genuine computer nerd for quite a while, having been in the software business for over 20 years. I therefore have a great appreciation for logic and reason, but I also recognize that there are areas where logic doesn't apply, or maybe those areas have their own logic that isn't necessarily apparent. This point was emphasized by my first experience, and while I don't want to repeat all the details here, let me say that the experience was one of those areas. I think, however, that this was not a case of logic not applying, but it was rather a place which has its own logic that I didn't understand. I also had a very clear impression during the experience that it was a "this far, and no farther" kind of event.

As far as spiritual aspects go, I'd probably have to say that I'm somewhat between belief systems at the moment. I was raised in a fairly conservative religious denomination, but I guess it "didn't take", so to speak. You could say that I'm in a seeking mode now, rather than comfortably settled on a particular belief.

The friend I spoke of who gave me my introduction is a fairly recently acquired friend. I mention this partly due to a comment I saw in another post, which (referring to DMT) went something like "you won't find it; it will find you". While I'm mathematically inclined enough to say that random chance does result in events both good and bad, I also believe that things happen for a reason. Why this friend came into my life at this point, I have no idea, and may never know why it happened now. But I do think that this experience arose at this time for some reason. I may never know that reason, but I hope to make the most of the opportunity, since it has come along. It would be a real shame, not to mention a waste, if it was a "one-and-done" event.

My friend has suggested a supplier of some legal raw materials. Once that's in hand, he tells me that there's a relatively uncomplicated extraction technique which has good results. I hope soon to have extracted some of my own, and see if I can move farther into the journey, maybe to find the breakthrough that I've seen mentioned.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to be a future contributor.

My friend and my brother, welcome to the Nexus.

When you get your plant material in hand just give me a call and I will make short work of the TEKs to get you going in the right direction to extracting.

As I watched you take flight in my easy chair I could tell that it wouldn't be long before you were on the shamanic path to making your own medicine. Cool

To whom it may concern...I will vouch for this persons honesty and trust worthiness.

Peaceful sun lite smiles and safe Journeys to you my friend.

Be Anonymous. Be Kind.

Hello LateJourneyer,

Welcome to the Nexus. Thank you for submitting that well thought out, written and edited essay - it was a pleasure to read.

There's a goodly number of folks joining up here in the 40-70 years age range these days, though admittedly, we are still majority 18-22.

Looks like you already have a friend here, Smile. Always nice to know folks who were sent this way by current members actually make it here and sign up for membership.

Please take a good look around. The links in your Welcome PM are a start, but so is checking out the forums. This place is huge and packed with well researched information assembled over a period of years by folks who really care. A good starting point might be the wiki as among other things it contains a plethora of extraction teks for a myriad of entheogenic plants.

Great to see you here and I hope you will become an active member. Again, welcome to the Nexus.
"But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. The present moment, ultimately, is more than enough, a gift of grace and unfathomable value, which our friend and lover death paints in stark relief."

Hello, Pandora!

Thanks so much for your compliment and your warm words of welcome; they are much appreciated. You're quite correct in that I do have a good friend here already; as you surmised, he's the person who directed me here.

I have been looking around the forums, as well as the wiki. There's an enormous amount of information here, and I have to confess to being a bit overwhelmed, but I'm looking forward to delving into it and learning as much as I can. I have a long way to go, I suspect, before my postings will be much more than asking questions, but I hope eventually to become a contributing member.

Thank you again for the welcome. It seems that most of the people here are warm and supportive, which is a great encouragement for us new people.

Best to you and to all in this place.

Had to agree with the "being a bit overwhelmed"! I'm thinking of larger monitor just so I can put larger pages up and read faster lol ( pant pant )

Hi, Virtusvelox!

The big monitor doesn't help that much -- you just find more to read through Big grin

Incidentally, I like your signature. I once read a second part to it that I rather liked:

Space: nature's way of making sure everything doesn't happen to you.

Best to you.
