hmm for some reason i dont like salvia... i have used it in the past quite a bit and remember liking it then but the last few recent times iv tried it i would just get a little bit in me and instantly be uneasy and just uncomfortable... to this day it sits undisturbed in 'the box' among other psychoactive this and thats

as for yesteryears and computer duster....

What strikes me about both is that they are used in ways that were not very common among the cultures we obtained knowledge of them from.

Salvia doesn't seem to be smoked by shamans, ever.
DMT was smoked in South America thousands of years ago, but that fell into disuse and the modes of ingestion common today are pretty much anything but smoking. There are snuffs, suppositories and brews with DMT in them that still see shamanic use, but smoking it is largely a western thing.

Both DMT and Salvia are used in spiritual healing rituals, but not by smoking them. Both have been reported as disturbing when smoked by the average person, though some people seem to love them this way. Both can traumatize people into personality changes and even seem to give some people post traumatic stress disorder, and yet both are also used repeatedly by people who report positive results and effects in terms of how it affects their lives and mentality.

They are the two most powerful psychoactive agents I can think of, not the most potent, but they are arguably the most intense psychoactives in terms of effects.

Many have found DMT to be more user friendly than salvia, but both deserve respect and depending on how you approach them both can benefit you or traumatize you. I believe that more traditional methods of using these remarkable substances deserve far more attention that the most recent trends of their use, which involve smoking. There are some amazing and beautiful salvia reports out there for the quid method normally employed by indigenous people who use salvia. There are also very good studies of ayahuasca use, which frequently employs DMT containing plants as an admixture to ayahuasca itself, which is both the vine and the brew made from it, these studies show that the use of such ayahuasca admixtures benefits the users physically, emotionally and psychologically with regard to use in both the short and long term. There is very strong evidence that used properly salvia and DMT are not only rather safe, they are good for you.

the Salvia spirit does NOT like being burned...she is a cool wet spirit..and when you burn her...she gets pissed off...seriously pissed...but...if you get a few plants growing..and you ask her for some of her leaves..and chew on them quid style(only fresh leaves..dont use dried) its an absolutely wonderful experience..

SWIM will never smoke her again..she doesnt like it one bit
it's a sound

perhaps - perhaps - u never know.

iv heard from a lot of sources that salvia hates heat and responds badly when burnt, swim has a few salvia plants - perhaps one day - one day he may quid it.
salvia freaked swim right the fark out.

first time swim tried it many years ago he hit about 1/3 of a gram of potent 40x - bad idea, many years later swim tried again 20x then plain leaf - swim doesnt understand why ppl require extracts - plain leaf smoked correctly is a powerfull thing.

Well you're right there, SWIM was smoking 40x extract in progressively larger doses. But his aim was to push it, and he's glad he did because the experiences were unbelievable.
It wasn't the dysphoric feeling or horrific enlightenments that scared him off. He had had good experiences- on one occasion he became filled by god, and actually his beliefs came about through his salvia experiences, and were merely corroborated by DMT. What put him off was that salvia planted a 'memory' in his head, a memory of every version of himself from every parallel universe being pulled into the same dimension and woven together on a horrific wheel of infinite hims. Or maybe this wasn't a memory, but a collective consciousness of some sort with other hims, or being in two places at the same time, because it felt so real that it was if it was happening elsewhere and he was conscious of it as much as of his usual reality. Whatever it was, he felt this was dangerous, too much, he was concerned that it might not be safe for his brain. Also the sheer strength of the belief that what is happening during the trip is REAL makes it potentially incredibly scary.
He would experiment again one day, but only when he had retired and didn't rely on his intellect anymore! DMT feels much safer so far, he trusts it.

salvia and memory are very closely tied - swim was able to remember long forgotten childhood memories and noticed a sharp rise in working and recall memory after use.
swims brain felt fitter but salvia caused another change within, an alien, magnified, motivational, inner voice - swim would for insance be sitting relaxing somehow and would have something that he needed to do, swim would say to himself "ok il get up and do it in 5 mins"(swims a full time professional procrastinator) and then immediately swim would hear himself think, "what are u waiting for, get up, do it now" so swim would immediately spring into action but the odd thing is that swim never thinks like that and it was rather alien feeling for swim to think it - kinda like implanted motivational thoughts that swim felt came from a not so nice feeling source somehow perhaps it would require reciprocation for this one day. - after smoking it was most visible for the next few days most intensely and it never tapered off until swim expunged any foreign energy from within himself and replated his energy exoskeleton.
Some of the related phenomena remain but the alien motivational force is gone - now it is all external - or at least it seems so.
kinda like swim felt that he had - thru salvia, picked up some kind of energy parasite - swim perceived it as the salvia energy but things are not always what they seem on this journey - swim is still busy working on this.

My shaman smokes lots of salvia as well, prob 2-3times per week of his homegrown plainleaf. H says he also really likes to combine it with spice..but not too much. Most of his experiences have been with low doses of chaliponga alkaloids inhaled about 2 minutes before salvia was smoked. Like Jorkest said, the salvia does seem to contain or form the framework from which the tryptamines work within, but at the right dosage he has gone REALLY deep, a distinct level of hyperspace/neurospace I guess..salvia is very calming for him, annialating any anxiety (plain leaf anyway), so it takes him in deeper and widens the spice visions without overwhelming him. Its still nice to him to be overwhelmed from time to time though..

...sounds like a salvia trip!..extract anyway. I dont venture that far into sage space as often anymore, but I have been there many times, interesting how so many people have experienced this "wheel". I have found with plain leaf I can controll my dosages and experiences easier, and when combined with meditation after I do yoga, it brings out a very interesting state of being where I unfold like oregami into the abyss, flow around into infinity, sometimes entereing or becomming various visionary scenes or memories.. and slowly reintegrate relaxed and rejuvinated.

Well, salvia can be harsh, and I have a lot to say about that. Basically one has to learn salvia very slowly with small amounts and become accustomed to her.
I know of people who used strong extracts the first few times and will never go back, and I understand why, but they did it all wrong. Salvia is SO different than dmt. Salvia needs that slow learning curve to become accustomed, but then it can be very much loved. DMT is very different in that respect.

agreed - but its more like getting hit in the third eye by a multidimensional metiorite.

this thread is helping swim come to peace again with salvia, which is a good thing.

indeed...salvia is a wonderfully powerful spirit/plant..she was SWIMS first real entrance into psychedelic states..the first time she spoke to him after smoking plain salvia leaves for a month straight without any worthwhile effects was absolutely breath taking...she said to him..in a very calm voice..."go lay down now" and he did as he was told..

hey sightseeker- how goes the exercise/diet regimen? Smile

SWIM posted a thread a while back about this very topic and got some wonderful responses. he is a fan of both and a DEEP respecter of both. he believes that these two facts are intertwined. he's got 4 gorgeous salvia plants that he always visits right when he returns from DMT hyperspace a pours love and spice epiphanies on them....he is excited to combine the two at some point. he has done two quid journeys so far trying to find the right dosage....the last one was 10 leaves chewed into a wad, stuffed in the cheek and held there for about 45 minutes. SWIM actually enjoyed swallowing the bitter tasting juice during that time. the effects were still more mild than he would ideally like but undeniable all the same. VERY different experience from smoking extracts....

anyone tried the tinctures?

also, for those of you familiar with the author Zoe7 and his "into the void" book...he has a second book called "back from the void" in which he combines Salvia with Ayahuasca and has an experience that is....well....worth writing a book about apparently! Very happy

...having a great day thus far! much love to my Nexus family!

you know what interesting about that antrocles...SWIM had combined spice and salvia together..and after he found out what the effects were..he was obsessed with finding out if anybody else had ever done it..and somehow he came upon the zoe7 books..what a great read...

SWIM is interested in combining his favorite extract(pedro) with his favorite pharma brew(thh, harmaline, dmt fumarate) and then at the peak of both trying a nice wad of fresh salvia leaves...he feels this could be an extremely awesome experience....this just kinda popped into his head..and it sounds like it could be AWESOME...combining mescaline, salvia, and dmt all together might make for a very interesting night..the three heavy weights of the natural psychedelics

swim combined salvia with mushies many times and would suggest it to those that work well with salvia. it made the salvia world have more definition and color and it was easier to adapt to faster.

Mushies and spice were quite a joy as well.....smoked about .25 right at the peak of some cubensis' teachings....epic.

Jorkest- SWIM's fav. extract is cactus as well. mesaline, salvia and dmt together might be something to tell the grandkids about indeed! hey, SWIY got any suggestions on dosage amounts for my pharmahuasca journey?

This seems true. I tried a mild extract (5X) with painful results. The bitch tried to kill me! After smoking a pinch I found myself being held tightly by a friend after hearing a loud THUMP upstairs. This THUMP was my head trying to break through a wall while unconscious (by unconscious I mean I was the wall).

Very interesting/frightening experience. After reading these reports, I will try to find a live specimen and grow her myself. I'm sure there's something she has to teach me...

SWIM has never done salvia, but is intrigued in growing some as well, and potentially dose quid style in the near future... rough estimation... how well does salvia d. grow indoors? Hard to take care of?

gotta get yer green thumb on with this little princess! she's finicky to say the least. best thing to do is to make a little hothouse cover out of a clear plastic tub and keep her covered and constantly moist (spray bottle) until she starts to look healthy after her transport to you. postal service ain't so nice to our girls....once she looks healthy, take her out of the packing they sent her in and plant her permanently in the little hothouse ON HER SIDE! keep the soil moist and spray her daily. she will throw roots out and start shooting new stalks up. once this starts happening you can start GRADUALLY acclimating her to your climate which, unless you live in a tropical rainforest, is more arid than she is used to. do this slowly and she will adapt and soon you will have a hearty, happy houseplant...

....here's a pic of my babies a while back when i had just laid them down on their sides and they were starting to shoot up.
