Do cacti go dormant during winter worldwide? Living in an area where there isnt a heavy winter is it expected that my pachanois will stop growing?

I have kept them outside throughout their first winter and they seem to still be enjoying the winter sun and growing slowly but surely.

I ask as I have a pachanoi which is now abit big for its pot and I wish to plant it in the ground to let it carry on with its growth. A spot just opened up as porcupine ate one of mine in the ground...

Will this stress the thing out or can I go for it?

Also got a loph graft that has some pups that are growing steadily and id be keen to graft one in the next week or so to make my own 1st graft. Wondering if I shouldnt just wait till spring in September or if 64 degree heat and rain every week or so is fine to graft?

im from south africa, so we dont get any snow fall and the lowest temperature weve had this year has been about 8 degrees celcius. Rain as i said only once a week or so. They still growing but slowly so im not sure if this is what they do when they dormant or if they not dormant here in africa?

(no- if conditions allow they grow year round)

(transplanting can always be a source of stress for plants. i like to transplant cacti during active growth times)

Also got a loph graft that has some pups that are growing steadily and id be keen to graft one in the next week or so to make my own 1st graft. Wondering if I shouldnt just wait till spring in September or if 64 degree heat and rain every week or so is fine to graft?[/quote]
(cool/rainy weather is not the best for grafting. wait for spring imo)
