I would like to share with those of you who have not heard a most amazing piece of musical art. Eliane Radigue, an amazing woman, spent eight years creating her three hour long musical masterpiece called Trilogie de la Mort. This is simply an astonishing sonic meditation on death and birth, inspired by the Tibetan Book of Dead (Bardo Thodol). Listening to this gives shivers down my spine and lifts my mind to amazing heights.

Yesterday, at new years eve, me, my girlfriend and a couple of friends listened to this lying down in quiet meditation. On the table was a loaded GVG filled with a solid dose of Changa. Upon being ready with a deep state of mind caused by this music, my girlfriend proceeded to take two solid tokes. Upon breathing out the last hit her eyes went wide, her hands shaking while struggling to put the GVG down. She disappeared for more than fifteen minutes, and upon return she was crying, looking at us saying "Is it true?!". She had died. She had died and gone to heaven. She died into the new year and was reborn. "Over there", while entering this sacred space, she met hear dead grandma who was there to guide her through. My girlfriend explained that once she lied down after the second hit, her body completely dissolved and her mind left. She was convinced she had died, her body had dissolved like if it was put into acid. What an amazing experience to have while entering the new year.

Anyway, this great music should be bought on CD, but you can find the three pieces on spotify, and some of it on youtube. Here is the first part on youtube, and here it is on spotify. Eliane has lots of other great works, so please check her other stuff out as well.

If anyone else have great music like this, that is Drone music, please feel free to share other great masterpieces.

Happy new year, people.

PS: Not all will appreciate this music, I am sure. It requires you to really slow down your day and preferably lie down with a good sound system, or with headphones, to get fully immersed. It is slow, it is very delicate and is not for everyone. But give it a try =)

Powerful music, Citta. Will get it. Give your gf a warm long hug today.

I don't have many drone/ambient references so far, but I'd like to contribute and suggest Stars of the Lid, starting with this... not as clean as the actual CD recording, but alas...

Amazing Citta, and very amazing story you posted as well. I couldn't stand listening to this masterpiece with interruptions (broken up into parts on youtube) so I'm going to try and get FLAC copy.

Good read and thank you for sharing.

Wow I'm really liking this on my first listen. Usually albums tend to grow on me first before I end up really liking it. I think I might even buy a legit copy of it. Huge thanks.

Was going to link some Stars of the Lid as well, another album though.

Thanks for the thread, Citta, and for sharing your wonderful experience. Interestingly, I've had similar experiences with Eliane Radigue's music and ayahuasca, I've even posted it sometimes last year here, on the Nexus. When I listen to her creations, I'm instantly driven towards a very deep, contemplative state of mind, so I find it an enchanting tool for meditation, even without spice or ayahuasca, or amanita that I use quite frequently to enhance my meditation on drone music.

Trilogie de la Mort is considered among drone fans the peak of Eliane's musical creations, however, I really liked Jetsun Mila, too. Here's an excerpt from it:

As a huge drone music / dark ambient lover, I recommend you some stuff that resonates perfectly with what I seek in sounds & music. Not all of them are on youtube, but can be downloaded (via Soulseek, for example). So it needs a little energy and research from your behalf, yet your ears and spirit will thank you afterwards! Very happy

Among my ultimate favs are the Russian drone / ambient creators, you can listen to them here (you can listen to the records at the Releases topic):

http://vetvei.ohms.ru/

Some of the best among the Russians in my opinion are:

Velehentor (seek for the album Dyatlov's Pass and From the Gloom)
Vresnit (album Zhatva and Seed Solar)
Bardoseneticcube (http://soundcloud.com/igorbardo)

Kshatriy, Ad Lux Tenebrae, Lunar Abyss Deus Organum, Neznamo

Others:
Voice of Eye, Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Psychomanteum, Cisfinitum, Closing Eternity, Oophoi Bardo, Transcendent Device, Halo Manash, Sleep Research Facility.

Hope all of you drone / dark ambient lovers will find some of this information useful, and I wish these sounds will make you happy!!!

Blessings

Some wonderful drone music. Just getting into this stuff.
The artist is "Coil" , the track is "7-Methoxy-β-Carboline: (Telepathine)", and the album is "Time Machines".

Track Listing:
1. "7-Methoxy-β-Carboline: (Telepathine)" – 23:10
2. "2,5-Dimethoxy-4-Ethyl-Amphetamine: (DOET/Hecate)" – 13:28
3. "5-Methoxy-N, N-Dimethyltryptamine: (5-MeO-DMT)" – 10:02
4. "4-Indolol, 3-[2-(Dimethylamino)Ethyl], Phosphate Ester: (Psilocybin)" – 26:51

I discovered this thread with the search function and I have to say, I now LOVE the work of Eliane Radigue.
This thread may be really quite old, but THANK YOU. I will be buying the CD's on Amazon.

Anyone who enjoys drone music should definitely check out the OP's post as well as "Time Machines".

Much love!

Was just about to post this LRx! Coil is excellent stuff indeed, and drone is only one facet of their intriguing body of work. I highly recommend anyone to check out Love's Secret Domain and Musick to Play in the Dark vol. 1.
