Hello all!

I just discovered the beauty of true vaporization vs. smoking tonight after some more reading on the site.

I'd like to offer a modification on the ceramic heating element idea.

I was thinking about whisky stones, and how you really just need something with a high specific heat...so it could be any stone, really. My current set up:

1) P___x brand Test Tube
2) A rubber Cork modified with a carb hole (short metal tube inserted) and a mouthpiece hole (glass eyedropper idea, small end broken off and heated to smooth off rough edges).
3) A couple of pipe screens to hold the spice (above the heating element in the tube).
4) A pebble I found outside my house for the heating element, which sits at the bottom of the tube.

This is super easy to make and to use. I was using test tubes without a heating element before this and the difference...just no comparison! It's soooo easy on the throat and lungs.

I don't remember the poster's screenname whose comments about the smoothness of real vaporization made me try this a different way, but thank you. Smile

The nice part about the vaporizer outlined above is that you can order eye droppers and test tubes by the half dozen or dozen and you have several back-ups for trial and error. And DO buy the branded test tube. I went through a set which claimed to be high heat and they were junk. Razz

I had beautiful experience tonight. A very warm, loving sort of communion.
The initial entities remind me of mechanical art deco owls for some reason. "PAY ATTENTION! HERE! NOW!" But when things got very intense, it was as if shadow figurines were slipping across my field of vision...attending to me, as it were. And then that warmth and knowing entity which is much larger.

I haven't done much reading on trip reports yet. The idea of archetypes is extremely interesting to me--read an interview with Dennis McKenna. I'm sort of babbling now. Laughing

Thanks for the site. Peace.

I'm interested, but confused about your use of the term "real vaporization".

Are people actually smoking DMT?

If you're not directly hitting it with a flame you're vaporizing it.

No, if you heat up the test tube too much directly under the spice, it will burn and smoke. You don't need direct flame to burn it--just sufficient heat from whatever the spice is touching. So you can definitely burn/smoke your intended material in a homemade vaporizer.

I'm confused. So your heating up the glass? What's the rock for exactly?

They make rubber stoppers that already have 2 hole in them.

Oh, I was just using the rubber stoppers that came with my bad batch of test tubes.

Sorry if I've been unclear. Smile

The rock at the bottom of the test tube is what you heat with your torch through the test tube glass. This concentrates and preserves the heat from the lighter so you have a heat source inside your test tube. When you begin a slow, steady inhalation, this draws the heat from the rock through the pipe screens, across your spice, and vaporizes it rather than burning it.

Prior to adding the rock as a heating element, I was heating the glass itself to try to vaporize the spice, but it was getting too hot and I was burning it: very harsh stuff on the lungs/throat.
