Procedure has gone as follows:

Step 1: Preparing the Cactus using this method Cactus Preparation

Step 2: Blending the cactus so it fits into a 2l bottle.

Step 3: Freeze and thaw for about a week. (was done 3 times)

Step 4: Add pulp to pressure cooker and add a few drops of lemon and enough water to saturate pulp properly. PC pulp at 15psi for 15mins. Filter liquid through t-shirt and coffee filter and collect liquid into ceramic pot. Sqeeze as much juice out, then put your pulp back into PC add half the amount of lemon and water and recook for 15mins.

Step 5: PC 3 times and collect filtered liquid into ceramic pot. Pulp is discarded after the third pull.

Step 6: Evaporation. Take a large pot throw some rope down on the bottom and add a certain amount of water to cover the rope. Take your ceramic pot and put this into the larger pot filled with water and the rope( which is used to keep the ceramic pot from touching the bottom) and bring the bottom pot to boil. This will keep your ceramic pot at a simmer.

This is as far as my mate has got. Just wondering if there are anythings we should keep in mind as we have yet to prepare cacti succesfully.. We think it was heat that was the issue last time which is why we have decided to try the double pot method.

I would never recommend blending the cactus, i have no idea why that practice is so common.

all that is required is that you cut the cactus up and boil it for hours, i dont even stir it at all leads to less goop. If you have failed before try simplifying your technique and finding good strong cacti genetics

good luck!

thanks for the reply to this weve tried a few times with no luck... 1st attempt were to get mesc hcl, next tar and finally tea.. Still no luck with this recent batch..

It is off the same cacti source and im beginning to think this is a bunk cacti

Thing is ive got someone else who is currently using this cacti and they seem to be getting great results... they simply blend and boil for 3-4 hours, filter and drink.. Not to sure if its placebo for them but its an old cacti and has had good results in the past..

Is it possible for a cacti to begin to loose its mescaline content?

Next time we will not blend but use chips which are sitting in the freezer right now.

Maybe use more lemon juice or citric acid like a whole 2 lemons instead of a few drops? Or perhaps white vinegar and 2000mg vitamin c?

The PC was good only took like 1.5hrs to finish boiling and do 4 pulls. Maybe do 10 min cooks this time and do 5 pulls?

And make sure that the water in the lower pot stays at a simmer instead of a boil? Cant really think of what else I could change? Im pretty determined to get this down one way or anotherPleased

Use whole cactus apart from core

Cut in chunks size of thumb nail

Freeze and thaw 3 times

Use around 2 litres to boil in big pot, just over simmering just under violent boil, it will fluctuate

Twice during the 10 hour boil, add a dash of vinegar. White is fine.
Maybe like 25ml's I used each time

Keep topping the water up

After its boiled long enough evap down into 150ml per person to drink

Worked for me

cool ever tried with a pressure cooker? the amount of time it saved was amazing as i have a gas stove Smile from 10 hours to 1 hour is a nice decrease in time.

Think i will try vinegar this time. does it end up in the end tea?
