I have a sample of DMT contaminated in methanol with:

1. Plain old Tryptamine freebase mp 178-180 °C
2. 2-Me-DMT mp 205–208 °C
3. N-Methyltryptamine (NMT) mp 178-180 °C

I'd like to purify and extract the DMT by separating the contaminants. Anybody have any idea on how to proceed?

Since DMT freebase has a boiling point (bp) of 60-80 °C, I figure the following should work:
1. Dissolve the mixture including 1, 2, 3, and DMT in methanol/water mix.
2. Distill the liquid over at up to 80 °C.

Doing this I assume the methanol and DMT freebase will distill over and contaminants 1, 2, and 3 will remain back in the distillation vessel. Is my assumption correct?
