Queen Anne's lace or Wild Carrot (Daucus carota) is an herb that grows abundantly in the wild and has a large range. It is a very useful herb with many good properties and can be eaten as a food. The root is a small carrot. Storebought carrots are a subspecies of this plant. One of the properties I keep seeing listed for it online is that it is an MAOi. I'm curious is this could be another new useful maoi. I have some growing in my backyard and may try it soon. Must just make sure it is not yarrow which is a very similar looking herb.

The only Overdose information I could find is that it can cause symptoms of skin irritation/rash when triggered by light exposure. I can't find any info of anyone ever dying from it or any other OD effects.

The only dangerous look-alike (vaguely) is Water Hemlock.

There have been cases of Hemlock poisoning misidentified as Wild Carrot. Hemlock poisoning is deadly poisonous and the importance of accurate ID cannot be overemphasized!

This is very common where I live. I have to say that I've never had any luck eating it because the the root was always too woody. Maybe I wasn't cooking it right (or at all, come to think of it). It would be neat if it turned out to be a good MAOI source.
Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.

Wouldnt the seed be the bit to give the most attention? That seems to be the part most used medicinally to prevent pregnancy, as a restorative tonic, etc.
If landrace Daucus carota seed proves to be at all useful as an MAOI I wonder if domesticated types would work the same, you can just plant a carrot and a few months later harvest the seed.

Fool's Parsley is another look a-like:

I've also recently read Gentian is an maoi as well. Will have to look into these more.
