Eddie Izzard took the biscuit for a long while...

Also when I'm in the mood, Rogan and Hicks can destroy me.

Ringworm definitely gets a nod.

Reggie Watts is one of my latest favorites. He often says nothing in so many words, and other times says very profound things which need replaying because they're too fast!

I would be very surprised if he hasn't gone on a good trip a time or two.

Here he is on TED.

Louis CK is by far my favorite comedian.

Thanks for starting this thread. I need to branch out a bit in this area.

My knowledge of standups is decidedly lacking. Like Hixidom i need to branch out. I watched George Carlin the other day for the first time and very much enjoyed it ( can"t believe i haven"t come across him before). Which is why i was wondering what other folk liked. Good selections by all. (why am i not surprised that you are a Frankie Boyle fan Demented!?!).

I had seen him perform before but couldn't remember his name, thanks! Smile

Also, Steven Wright is one of my favorites. I think he's very under-appreciated.

Russell Peters. I call his style "smart racism" or "satirical culturalism"

Bill Hicks has been floating my boat a lot as of late... But more so for his mind than his usual comedy routine (though that is hilarious and enlightening too). In interviews and when he goes on a rant against the audience and is purely spontaneous is when I think he is at his best. Here's a few examples:

Bill Hicks - Freebird
Bill Hicks BBC Interview
Bill Hicks Last Interview

The BBC interview is great towards the end when the lady interviewer criticises Bill for not giving the audience what they want and that they don't want to think at a comedy show and he retorts with "When did thinking not become entertaining? Do you want me to individually tickle each and everyone of them?..."

The last interview is great because when he gets into a topic or idea, he starts yelling and catches himself to laugh at his anger, truly passionate about the state of the world and its backwards slide into mediocrity, greed and selfishness.

George Carlin is great. You can tell between him and Bill Hicks that they take comedy into the realms of philosophy and big universal questions, not willing to pander to cheap laughs. They just happen to make their expression and art hilarious.

I also like Mitch Hedberg and Dave Chapelle, they have a unique slant on things that is often gutbusting and funny, especially Mitch Hedberg with his delivery.

That^ and your natuaral tendency to call a spade a spade. I agree with you about Billy Connolly. Been watching a lot of george carlin and he seems to have got better with age. Loved the Bill Hicks interviews.
