So SWIM has done many a MHRB extraction (mostly standard STB) in the past and has acquired a supply of powdered bark that is, well...different. It was purchased in the heyday of MHRB but came at perhaps too good of a deal. SWIM has had problems with this bark since they got it and has yet to approach running out of it. No other supplies used are different from before and all are of of impeccable quality.
This bark absolutely contains spice in good quantities but also has a fuckton of what seems to be fats. Naphtha takes an extra long time to fully separate from the base solution and often reaches an amber coloration. There is no emulsion. During a freeze precipitation, a brown sediment quickly forms after an hour or two and then the solvent is a more normal yellow. Conducting a mini acid/base on the muck collected does produce very clean snowflakes.
So what is up with this bark? Is it even MHRB? Has anyone experienced this and what was done? SWIM is now dabbling more in A/B extractions and learning about FASA in an attempt to fix this problem.
Any help or thoughts would be awesome. Pics can be posted if people are interested.
