Hey there!
I have been trying to get isolated psilocybin out of P. Cubensis for along time now.
I have done the "crystal of the gods tek" with ethanol -failed
I've done 20part water 120 part methanol. - failed
But I did read on the nexus here that psilocybin is VERY souble in 70% methanol with Potassium nitrate (KNO3)
I would appreciate any input from those who have sucessfully isolated phosphate psilocybin.

Or maybe some kind of straight to base (STB) extraction?
Like brainstorm here:
Using ground mushrooms with a non polar solvent like chloroform, benzene, or xylene. Basified with lye.
And some kind of polar solvent like hot ethanol or methanol.
Remove the polar solvent and either freeze precipitate or evaporate

Thanks for the help guys!
Peace and love

You should do more research on the forum about psilocybin extraction, to learn why you cannot STB mushrooms. There are many threads about it.

I was however, fascinated to read the journal where the methanol/KNO3 was tested. I did not know of this.

I'll repost the .pdf endlessness linked for convenience.

Although it is fascinating, the KNO3/methanol was only fractionally a better solvent then 70% methanol with water. (1.3% compared to 0.9%)

And it also presents you with the problem of having KNO3 in your solvent, you would need to remove this to recover the psilocybin, this is of course possible, but prevents you from simply evaporating the methanol.

I doubt you could get a better yield using this solvent system, but like the title says, it truly is a novel extraction procedure, but, they were not consuming the end product. They were injecting it into the HPLC for analysis.

If you want results like them you need a sonicator. Time is an important factor in the extraction, the right tools allow you to work quickly and effectively.

So don't extract with KNO3 and ingest it. It was once thought to induce impotence. (It doesn't) But they say the same with marijuana. so watch it. yea.

here is the .pdf for reference. Thanks Endlessness

I would be interested in experimenting in a way to crash the psilocybin crystals out of the alcohol.

The varying solubility of the compound in alcohol/water could be exploited, in this fashion KNO3 could be used as well.

Its time for some experiments.
