Hello DMT-Nexus,

This post is out of concern for a close friend of mine, who was unfortunately diagnosed with the life-altering condition 'Friedreich's ataxia' at the age of 19. We are both 23 now, and have known each other since we were 11.
I have done DMT once, and did not have a breakthrough experience, but had some visions.
We are both interested in exploring some more with DMT in the weeks to come, and the reason for this post is to see if anyone on here has FA or a condition similar to FA such as MS, or some heart conditions that may drastically alter the things that they can do in their day-to-day life.
I know that DMT can be intense like a roller coaster ride, but would this be taxing on an individual in the same sense?
I would love to share this experience with him but not if his health could be at risk.
Maybe starting with some low dose DMT-fumarate or changa would be best?
Should it be avoided altogether? He has had success with low dose MDMA and multiple hits of LSD.
I love him dearly and would hate for him to be in danger. He couldn't do a stimulant such as cocaine.
Thanks to all who took the time to read this. This is a wonderful community I feel privileged to be a part of.

Peace!

Im sorry to hear of your friends diagnosis.

Friedreichs ataxia is an interesting condition thats inherited in an autosomal recessive fashion (1 in 4 chance of symptomatic inheritance) and is the most common inherited ataxia. The underlying defect is a deficiency of a mitochondrial protein named Frataxin and this manifests itself as a slowly progressive 'unsteadiness' of the gait and incoordination in the limbs, slurring of the speech, abnormal eye movements, loss of limb reflexes with spasticity, degeneration of peripheral nerves and also the optic nerve, curvature of the spine and in time, diabetes can develop plus heart involvement (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). Its unlike MS in many many ways.

In the absence of significant cardiac or diabetic complications, I dont think your friend would be more at risk than someone without Friedreichs if they were to smoke DMT/changa.FA is not a condition where neurotransmitters such as serotonin figure highly; its more of a degenerative ailment. If one has the cardiac complications then the risk from MDMA would be more significant than that from a short-lived DMT experience.
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.
