Disclaimer: I am not a Dr. or expert on the subject so do not take this as advise. I am only a layman when it comes to knowledge of these subjects.I have bad allergic reactions when I manicure the lawn and I have found something today that might be of interest to my fellow Nexians who are looking for natural allergy relief.
Butterbur.
Petascites hybridus and
Petacites japonicusWebMD.com has some great info on the plant and British/Swiss studies show very promising results for relief of allergy symptoms.
Side Effect Warning from WebMD: "Some butterbur products may contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs), and thatโs the major safety concern. PAs can damage the liver, lungs, and blood circulation, and possibly cause cancer. Butterbur products that contain pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) are UNSAFE when taken by mouth or applied to broken skin. Broken skin allows chemicals to be absorbed into the body.
Do not use butterbur products unless they are certified and labeled as free of PAs."
