Why couldn't enlightened people just join the Native American Church to enjoy growing, harvesting, and partaking in entheogens? You do not have to be of Native American descent, and even ayahuasca is listed. I am thinking of joining, there is a one-time $200 donation fee involved, but it would be worth it, if what they say is correct. Here are the Oklevueha Native American Church Member Legal Rights: http://nativeamericanchurches.org/legal/Anyone else know better than me about this, or have some advice on the truth of this matter? Can one truly partake freely without conviction? Thanks Meditate before you venture, take it seriously, use it as medicinal—it is good psychotherapy if needed. Realize that you, the Earth, others, and the Universe are all one and the same process. Then take that knowledge back to become, as you already are, one with nature. Eternity in every moment. Divinity in every particle. All is one organism.

Interesting. Sounds too good to be true, but I'm also interested to know more for sure. It would be great to have that kind of protection. Nagdeo

The Oklevueha Native American Church is concidered by many within the Native American Church to be not legit it seems..it's pretty controverisal but I have both heard from other church members and read on various sites that that guy is a fraud or something, and also that they are not really legal and that affiliation cant protect you....although I have also read NAC members saying the same things about Peyote Way and saying they are some rogue offshoot that does not respect the medicine etc.. Anyway yeah..I dont know what to think about James Mooney and the Oklevueha NAC..There is so many rumors and haters out in the world you never know what to really believe. Long live the unwoke.

Ayahuasca too? Hmmmm.... "Subsequent court rulings up to and including the US Supreme Court have verified and solidified the Native American Church’s right to conduct these ceremonies and use plants and herbs not available to the general public for healing and empowerment. These natural substances (such as peyote, cannabis and ayahuasca)..." Meditate before you venture, take it seriously, use it as medicinal—it is good psychotherapy if needed. U.S. vs Boyll peyote case http://www.erowid.org/fr..._c-10th_d-nm_case1.shtmlI know that some branches of the actual NAC will accept non-native members but I think those branches are mainly in the few states where non-denominational peyote use is protected by law. The thing to do is look up the phone number for your local NAC and ask them personally because the real NAC does not have a fancy web site or anything. “Music is the voice of God traveling through ten-dimensional hyperspace.” ― Michio Kaku

I heard this joke in a sweat once, and I think it applies to the discussion of the various offshoots of the NAC. -How many medicine men does it take to screw in a light bulb? 100. One to screw it in, and 99 to wag their finger and say "We don't do it that way..."
That said, there is no legal way for a white American to take entheogens in the United States outside of an exceedingly-rare clinical trial or something approved by the relevant agencies.

Region: West Location: Boulder/Denver Areas, Colorado Email: Joseph_RisingSun@Yahoo.comWebsite: www.OklevuehaNativeAmericanChurchofAllNatio Description: Oklevueha Native American Church of All Nations is a church for the people, to offer spiritual guidance, comfort and support for the community through Native American Half Moon Ceremony, Sweatlodge, Hanblecha, Vision Quest and many other indiginous ceremonies. We preserve the ways of prayer with Holy Medicines such as Peyote, our Holy Sacrament in which we pray and worship God in the way we see God through the Holy Medicines such as peyote, for ourselves, our children, families and all the generations to come may have freedom of religion. We belive Great Spirit intended all human beings to have opportunity to participate in these ceramonies regardless of gender, race, finacial, and/ or social status. These ceremonies were given to human beings by Great Spirit to empower and/or heal us emotionally, intellectualy, and physially through spiritual means. These Ceremonies have been passed from Generation to Generation under the most difficult of circumstances and have been retained more compleatly by the indigenous people of mother Earth. Participation in these ceremonies assists us in disciplining ourselves to honor our innate goodness while we walk on mother Eart and under father sky. ~ Oklevueha N.A.C. of All Nations http://www.OklevuehaNati...anChurchofAllNations.org

New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona and Oregon seem to allow for it if certain conditions are met, the requirements to qualify for legal protection vary state to state, but being of native american decent is not one of those requirements at least in these states as far as I know. Of course federal law is a different story, just like with the current cannabis situation in the USA. “Music is the voice of God traveling through ten-dimensional hyperspace.” ― Michio Kaku

I was in a NAC meeting and did not have to sign up or become enlisted or anything. [center]Sophia's Light
In darkest night, when lights are dim, and all in sight seems sad and grim, I find you there, your arms surround me, your spirit fills me and it grounds me. I look to you, Lady of Truth, most ancient One, yet eternal youth,to keep me safe, protect my heart, and with the wisdom you impart, fill up my empty mind and soul,so that, my Lover, you can make whole, all that was broken in this day –and that is what I ask and pray.

I'm not volunteering, but I would be really curious to see how this plan held up in court. "There are many paths up the same mountain."

thanks for that dreamer. There is some youtube videos with James Flaming Eagle Mooney as well. Honestly the guy seems like a good guy, that gets a lot of haters etc...Im not a NAC member though so I dont know much about why some people have such a problem with the guy. I would not join the church though just so you can feel like you can legally take these medicines. It is sort of an abuse of the NAC to do that IMO..if you dont really feel a calling to their way of ceremony and practice etc than you should not join. Just my feelings on the subject of these plant medicine groups/churches. I feel like a lot of people want to go to daime ceremonies or peyote ceremonies etc just cus it's a legal way to trip. Long live the unwoke.

I would LIKE to think that for most of the people here on the Nexus, the distinction between 'a legal way to trip' and 'attending a spiritual ceremony with the respect and intention' is a pretty meaningless one. Obviously that's not the case for the general drug-using population at large, but people here seem like they are pretty aware. I know at least for me, I would be extremely interested in the spiritual insight and healing peyote offers, and I would go to him because I knew I could do it in a setting that was at least a little more secure than buying buttons in a brown paper bag from a guy on the corner. The two are are not totally mutually exclusive. I've often wondered why psychedelic users don't band together and found their own religion. There are certainly enough people on the Nexus that we could qualify as an effective cult. Certainly more if you add some of the folks at The Shroomery and Mycotopia.
