I have been taking tonic herbs and other supplements for about a year now and they enhance consciousness in many ways. I thought it would be a good idea to compile a list of herbs/supplements that may contribute to the positivity of the psychedelic experience.

The herbs bacopa and st. john's wort have helped me immensely with sensitivity to serotonin. Other things that have helped me:

rhodiola, gotu kola, alcar, sublingual methylcobalamin, methylfolate, etc. There are others but it is early and I can't recall them right now. I will update later after some brainstorming.

specifically, substances that increase the brain's sensitivity to serotonin have helped me the most. I avoid things like l-tryptophan and 5-htp because I believe these just downregulate the receptors in the long-run. St. john's wort has been great for this although it can feel a little strange in higher doses.

Thumbs up

Vitamin B6 for serotonin production from Tryptophan. Good for saturation of the synapses i believe.

But perhaps this also gives a downregulation. I just don't see how natural production can give notable downregulation. 5-htp and L-tryptophan do not do much for me tho.

downregulation isn't the issue. serotonin is the preferential ligand at the active binding site. centrally produced serotonin will compete with psychedelics for those binding sites.

that being said...

Do you think that aniratecam can be a possible NMDA ligand?

Does it help to bring back stuff from dreams or a DMT trance?

Perhaps combining with galantamine or bacopa for optimal long-term potentiation of DMT memories/neurons?

Either way, i now think there is hope for chronic amnesiacs like me. Increased memory and learning would certainly "enhance" the psychedelic experience.

Btw, I could not resist quoting that entire post Big grin

Flying Ointment or Golden Bough. It is used for Astral Projection and it works wonders when smoking pure.

Available at some Apothecary stores, and definitely at those stores which may dabble in Wicca or Occult. (Take that with a grain of salt, please.)

If you can find someone who makes the real ointment. It contains Mandrake, Belladonna, hyoscyamine (Datura) and Scopolamine, and sometimes Marijuana. Sometimes it's mix and match. But let me tell you, rubbing some on Ones temples and 3rd Eye 20 minutes before a session has amazing results. Use with caution, and follow any dietary restrictions that may apply to involved ingredients. Try the ointment alone first, as it affects everyone differently. It has sedative like qualities, and should be used only once a week, without alcohol.

Some replies may scoff at this suggestion, as some Shamans use these teachers with adverse results. But again, you are not drinking this, so a small dose applied to the skin with care is fine. But try it by itself first.

I don't think long-term potentiation would be a reasonable expectation, because aniracetam has a short half-life, it would need to be administered regularly to get any long-term benefit.

I certainly noticed more powerful experiences from taking it with mushrooms and dmt, respectively. I once took 750 mg aniracetam while on mushrooms, 90 mins in, because the shroom trip was a giggly tease...within 15 mins of taking it, I was speechless.

as far as NMDA-antagonists go...
I once took ~2 g aniracetam to put the brakes on an MXE experience, it didn't.
aniracetam is primarily an AMPA-1 agonist.

really resonates with me. I am starting to wonder what the difference is in experience when taking an SSRI compared to taking an MAOI.

Either way, last night i took a cocktail of vitamins, Wellbrutin and caffeine to ease my headache. Decided to smoke DMT and tripped for about half an hour, maybe more. It was a very lucid experience and definitely feel the cocktail potentiated my experience. (and my headache was completely gone! )

I'll look more into AMPA-1 and NMDA functions. I firmly believe that there is a key to perhaps bringing back more from hyperspace that is not possible with only vaping DMT. Perhaps a permanent change of perception.

This isn't a too big of a revelation but I noticed that when I smoke Cannabis, before a go to sleep, and I take 3 Valerian Root capsules @ 2,250mg I tend to have more vivid dreams "in the early morning hours"...it happens more often when I take the Valerian, then when I dont. So my guess is for me anyways it increases the number of dreams I have.

Do any of you guys know any compounds that may help induce a lucid dream?

i think silene capensis is said to be good for lucid dreaming. I just started taking spirulina and i've been having incredibly vivid dreams (i usually do not dream or do not remember my dreams).

Silene does indeed help with dreaming. Calea as well, just less noticeably and you have to both drink the tea and smoke some to get full effects. Any acetylcholine reuptake inhibitor or precursor... or just acetylcholine (I like CDP) will have effects. Therefore the list of nootropics and supplements that you might wanna look into are long indeed.

Much of the same guys that help with dreaming will also do something for your tripping. IMO, especially when taken before and again as the lights begin to dim. It is possible to extend peaks and re-enliven dying trips. Play with it.

One word of caution for this thread though... please be careful with SSRI's. Yes they will potentiate serotonergic drugs. BUT, if they do so too much, you run the risk of edging into Serotonin Syndrome. No fun kiddies.... potentially fatal.

Be aware.
