Hey everyone new here. Nice to meet everyone. Swim is interested in getting the purest dmt possible and finding new plant sources for extraction. Thats about it Smile
All my post are theoretical and if i refer to myself in terms like me or I, i am actually referring to a theoretical entity name me or I.

why is purity such a concern?

when you say that do you mean free of harmful contaminants (lye and solvent remnants) or isolated from the natural, related molecules found in the plant?

also, with regards to finding new sources, the only reasonable way for the kitchen chemist to reasonably test a large amount of species (afaik) is with a reagent kit, and then confirmation with thin-layer chromatography (should the reagent test result turn out favorable).

mimosoideae seems to be the subfamily to study.

I am aware of the methods of raegen and tlc. Swim plans to be getting some more expensive analytical methods in a few months but tlc will have to do for now. Solvant remnants dont seem to be too much of an issue as most solvents are fairly easy to remove and when possible Swim will apt for foodsafe solvents. In terms of plant toxic removal Swims main targets of removal are gramine and hordenine. Swims having trouble finding a good recrystallizing agent that dissolves dmt at high temperature and gramine at low. Swim knows lemonine is a good room temperature solvent to get rid of gramine, but not for recrystallizing.

afaik gramine is basically insoluble in naphtha at room temp. (idk about other temps, or hordeneine)

but if you use room temp limo as a solvent, it will reduce the amount of gramine, and then you can re-x with naphtha (if you feel the need).

i think the real challenge is separating DMT from other more intimidating/unknown molecules (such as 5-MeO-DMT, 5-MeO-NMT, and some of the more exotic compounds).

iirc hordenine has not been tested by endlessness (who did the tests of gramine solubility in hot/room temp limo, and naphtha), so i do not know offhand anything about its solubility.

hopefully someone else can chime in, as getting a good extract out of phalaris is quite the hot topic here.
