I've had 2 flushes. The cakes are getting smaller. I rehydrate them before the flushes though. But how do you know when to call it quits and toss the cakes. Is it just whenever it stops making shrooms?

Cakes will continue to produce until they are spent. I have noticed potency dropping after the second flush, may just be my experience. I usually let my bulk grows go for 3.

Later flushes on cakes have produced fewer though larger fruits ime

as long as there are nutrients in the rice, it can be kept.

3-4 flushes is pretty typical.

I usually stopped @ 3 flushes, and the third flush often is very small.

Yeah, I agree with everybody on this one, usually the third flush is its low point, not to say you won't get a lil' fruit from the fourth. Sometimes I judge when to call it quits based on if I have other cakes colonized and ready to replace the old ones in the fruiting chamber.

I'm making my new cakes right now. Do you think I can fill em up with brf then PC cook in a few days when I inoculate? I can't do it now because my stove isn't working and I found that out after I made my cakes. Would it be very susceptible to bacteria or contam if I leave it without PC for a few days? Or should I just start over
