Hey all...this may be a previously discussed topic but my search skills are lacking and I couldn't quite find what I was looking for...
My question is has anyone found a particular style of meditation to work well in preparation for an experience with dmt?
Ive dabbled in meditation and psychedelics before but I've never combined the two but I plan on doing so with dmt and I want to begin practicing my meditation now ahead of time.
To those with any sort of experience with this sort of thing...help would be greatly appreciated.

Check out the posts here, it seems like clearing the mind pre-trip is the way to go (you know, to minimize the baggage & ego you might otherwise bring with you). I like meditation, but I'm totally unfamiliar with the terms people use to signify different styles, so I can't give you too much direction myself, other than whatever meditation works best for you Razz

Yeah the ego thing is really what I'm worried about. I've mostly had only positive experiences with psychedelics which is a point of pride for me....my conflict is from what I've read so far, pride isnt really something you wanna take with you to hyperspace.

Its good to experiment with many different ways of doing it and find which ways work for you under which circumstances..Obviously there can still be a lot of variation each time, but you can learn to work with it and come up with a kind of formula or ritual that more or less works well for you. Just go with the flow and find your groove i guess..

For me its incredibly helpful to enter hyperspace in as relaxed and coherent/centered a state of consciousness as possible. Think of your mind as the surface of a pond and reality as being the reflection off of it; If its choppy/wavy (heart beat too high? racing thoughts? distractions? etc) then whatever reality we encounter can become confusing, unclear, and overwhelming.. If you manage to keep the surface relatively calm then it'll most likely be much smoother sailing into hyperspace.

So for me it helps to just sit and do deep slow abdominal breathing until i'm relaxed..but even then its still tricky, because just glancing at the changa bong can make my heart rate jump right back up. I like to do a kind of yoga first... often while smoking lower doses of changa, and preferably after drinking a bit of caapi, rue, or harmalas..Although even just a lower end dose of changa by itself can REALLY help relax some of those pre-flight jitters..

Then when actually meditating you can focus on the breath, your thoughts, intentions, feelings, or just unfocus..etc..whatever works for you really

^This is perfect also....I was honestly just looking into whether or not it was a good idea to dose on a small scale before jumping right into it. Im not too concerned about breaking through my first time as much as I'm concerned about finding out how I'll react mentally.

When I started mediating I would listen to are guided meditation every night on YouTube or I would download some on pirate bay . As I listened to several I begin to get a feel for what really worked for me the. In my
Head put together the bits and prices from every one I had enjoyed and made my own system that works for me . Everyone is different and it's hard to find one tht works for all so listen to many and make one for yourself .

I'm new to dmt, but before taking shrooms I use simple meditation with meditative music, candles, concentration on breathing and being in present moment, not thinking about what's coming soon [the trip]. also, probably the most effective way, I found, is to go to shower after meditation, and keep on meditating there, feeling and imagining water washing away your uneasiness, fear, bringing peace and cheerfulness to you.
it is awesome and beautiful way to prepare for journey.

i never go in anymroe without a good at least half an hour preflight meditation, always helps me go deeper, many different kinds of meditation but i like deep breath: just focus only on the breath, if mind begins to wander catch it quick and back to the breath, also visualizion is helpful like visualize while meditating that your out of your body,..simple and very effective tool, happy journeys Smile

Wow...so much great info and advice...I didn't expect anything close to this level of helpfulness. You all have given me a lot to process and practice so thanks muchly.

One trick iv'e adopted into my routine is to spend about 10 or 20 minutes staring intently into the flame of a candle about 4 feet away. Focus on the light and feel the energy of the flame enter into your mind.
