This is my Huichol yarn painting that was given to me as a gift from my brother after he visited Mexico about 10 years ago:

There is a story on the back that I finally learned the meaning to thanks to some very kind Nexus members in the chat were able to translate for me back into English (my Spanish is quite poor):

En este cua dito bemes ala chuparrosa wensajera que trae un mensa je alos dioses Zagra dos y bemos al chaman Curanderos que esta bendiciendo ala Flecka caza dora. Y los otros nimalitos son lusernagas que alusan por las naches los Caminos de los Hermanos indi jenas este cuadro fue echo por martin de la Coros Benites haste Huichol

In this painting we see the messanger hummigbird, she brings the message to the sacred gods we see the shaman healer blessing the hunting flock and all the animals including the fireflies that illuminate the path for the indegenous brothers at night. This was made by Carlos Benites haste Huichol.

Very cool! Interesting that the hummingbird is so revered in both peyote culture and San Pedro culture. The deer antlers are interesting too since the deer often features prominently in peyote symbolism. Never seen them combined like that.

I LOVE huichol art. I've got a little piece probably about the same size with Quetzalcoatl/Kukulkan on it.

hummingbird is also associated with ayahuasca..and with salvia..the deer is also associated with salvia..

I think its more of a cross tribal thing in meso and south america personally than comming from one particular entheogen.

That's really beautiful, jamie. Notice a lot of the same symbols and imagery.

I'm actually surprised the art of yarn painting has permeated other cultures; it makes for some really beautiful pieces.

I believe it says, "Here we see a shaman who reflects the heat of the sun in order to fly and offer a flower to the mother."

Perhaps it should be Mother, with a capitol?

My spanish isn't the best, so maybe someone else can confirm this.

Very cool!

thanks camel and chris. yeah i love this art, it's truly inspiring as i feel it teaches me without words. i can be seen in different states of consciousness and get different things out of it. I feel like cactus is the only plant=entheogen/empathogen i can eat on a daily basis almost and feel better from. as opposed to taxed and drained like i do from everything else.
