In some ways, I don't think this is completely a hierarchy thing. I do like to see people like Benzeme, or Infundibulum post about something chemically related, and to confidence that they (most likely) know what they're talking about. So, it would be nice to see someone with a cactus or mushroom post about their related specialty.

As for the full member thing, currently the reward for full membership is the loss of your seedling, but I really like the idea of the seedling growing into a tree. I always thought the seedling was cute, so why should it just disappear?

Yes something like that. Though I don't know yet how it will be implemented.

I don't see the need to mark knowledge with icons and having MANY experts on MANY categories.

Nexus does a great job of self-regulating (if a member gives bad/not optimal advice he is quickly corrected/asked for an explanation).

Doubt, search, verify - don't trust an icon I much prefer if a member gets involved, follows discussion for a while and see who gives "good" advice instead of being spoon-feed through pictures.

However the thing is already in place since if you hover over an icon of a senior member you get the list of skills, if he listed them (gibran and jamie didn't).

If you read my first post then you would see that I asked for only one icon to acknowledge full member status which we do not have the rest of it was idea of other members.

Senior member status is something completely different.

It would be a cool idea. Just to have icons that mean nothing really.

It could be simply personalizing the account more!

I think if you just make the icons fun and not have any true significance or title behind them then it is harmless.

I think this is a great idea. There are plenty of members with expertise with certain psychedelics other than DMT, and having something similar to the senior members icons could be helpful.

I don't think the specialty icons would hold a ton of weight, it would just be more of a fun thing, and to show what your main focus is in.

If we just went with one icon for full members, I like the idea of the seedling becoming a tree. But why can't we have both? My mushroom would look good next to a tree!

All current icons are there to show that something different is going on with that member that should be noticed. As such an icon for full or 'normal' members would make not much sense.

As for the idea of other special icons that can be voted for: It does not happen that often that I see a member who deserves a special icon and if many people have them then they would not be special anymore.

So for now I will leave the system as it is.

Also: Traveler you should post a link of what all the badges mean I know you can click a members profile and see what rank they are but sometimes people have like 5 ranks lol "Sustainable member, moderator, etc etc or whatever they all are.

Any chance I can get a biohazard symbol to match my name? I would gladly make my own image if it could be applied! Hehehehe

Forgot everything that was said here and listen to me again.

What I wanted was that every rank to have a badge. NewMember have one, SenoirMember have one, Moderator have one, Administrator have one so my question is why Member have non ? Is it really so difficult Trav or am I missing here something ?

If you give badge to everyone going up the rank that my question is why NewMembers have one and Memebers dont? I mean to become a Member you must contribute with something right?

This is my last post in this thread (unless someone starts listening) cos It looks like even I have started this thread no one was listening to me. I thought that what I was proposing made sense or am I wrong ?

There are over 20000 members and i think Trav would run out of pixels if he had to supply us all with badges. We are the great unwashed and we transcend descriptive imagery!

I completely understand what your sayijg smoker. I think the thread kinda took your idea and it branched out into many differing ideas that while the base idea was there, was much more elaborate than what you were proposing. And I'm to blame just as much as anyone cause I think I helped with that as well.

Each level of membership has an icon denoting so. Except for full membership. This situation would be the same as if full members had an icon but senior members did not.

I think what smoker is proposing is needless but also not unnecessary. The lack of an icon is the same as there being one. I agree it would be nice to have our own icon representing our full membership rather than none at all. Again necessary? No. Would be nice though.

At times I feel as though suggesting such needless things is stacking up work for trav to do and sometimes hesitate when I decide that the difference between having and not having would not be noticed a week later. So that being said the only reason I really support this is that is seems a little off going from an icon, to no icon, then to icons again.

Imagine if a single rank in the army was represented with the lack if a symbol when ranks before and after had one. This is kind if a bad metaphor but you get the idea.
